This decision came just a day after the Brooklyn Nets announced that they were suspending Irving “at least five games without pay.” Earlier this week, Irving, along with the Nets organization, pledged a combined $1 million donation to the organization in an effort to “eradicate hate and intolerance” after Irving failed to take a clear stance on antisemitism when he was asked by the media if he had any regrets. for tweeting a link promoting the 2018 film based on the 2014 book “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.” Irving responded to the media that some things in the film were “questionable.”

Kyrie Irving And Nike Have Had Issues In The Past
Irving and Nike’s relationship began to decline before his latest scandal. In July 2021, Irving said he had “nothing to do with the design or marketing” of the Kyrie 8 shoe. He also described the leaked image of the shoe as “garbage” and said, “Nike is planning to release it without my ok regardless of what I say, so I apologize in advance to all my fellow sneakerheads and true supporters of the KAI11 brand.”
Irving later released a statement regarding the shoe that read, “When you build something great, sometimes there comes a time when you have to recalibrate and refocus to make sure everyone involved is aligned. This is where the KAI11 and Nike brands are located. It would be unfair to blame Nike or anyone else. With that, we’re working hard, reorganizing and reorganizing things together to make sure we get it right.”

Kyrie Irving Issues Apology On Instagram
After the NBA star was suspended for at least five games, he released a statement on Instagram apologizing to the Jewish community. His statement, accompanied by a photo of the deletion began, “While doing research on YHWH, I posted a Documentary that contained several false anti-Semitic statements, narratives, and language that were untrue and offensive to the Jewish Nation/Religion, and I take full responsibility and accountability for the actions me. I am grateful to have such a big platform to share knowledge and I want to move forward with an open dialogue to learn more and grow from this.”
Irving’s statement went on to clarify that he never intended to inconvenience anyone from his position and he did not mean to disrespect anyone. “To all the families and the Jewish Community who were hurt and affected by my post, I am very sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize. I initially reacted out of emotion at being unfairly labeled as Anti-Semitic, instead of focusing on the healing process of my wounded Jewish Brothers and Sisters from the hateful statements made in the Documentary,” he wrote.
“I would like to clear up any confusion about my position against Anti-Semitism by apologizing for airing the documentary without context and clarification of the facts outlining specific beliefs in the Documentary that I agree with and disagree with. I do not intend to disrespect any Jewish cultural history regarding the Holocaust or perpetuate any hatred. I learned from this unfortunate event and hope we can find understanding between us all. I am no different from other human beings. I am a seeker of truth and knowledge, and I know who I am.”
