Nikki Haley might want to skip the New Hampshire town hall for a while.
After the former South Carolina governor spent Thursday morning explaining why he didn’t mention slavery as a primary cause of the Civil War at an event the evening before, he was called on the carpet in the afternoon by a 9-year-old boy who questioned his decision to serve in President Donald Trump’s administration. Trump.
Haley, 51, spent 23 months as US ambassador to the United Nations during the 45th presidency and insists the 77-year-old is the right leader for the time.
However, during her presidential campaign, Haley had argued that Trump would not be effective in a second term because of the “mess” he had caused.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has accused Haley of being too soft on Trump, saying she is trying to better position herself for another White House run in 2028.

“Chris Christie thinks you’re a stickler for Donald Trump, and frankly, I agree with him. You’re basically the new John Kerry,” the kid told Haley in the ski town of North Conway as the audience laughed. “How can you change your mind like that in just eight years, and are you going to forgive Donald Trump?”
Haley, 51, responded by arguing that both “anti-Trumpers” and “pro-Trumpers” criticized her approach to the former president.
“I told you that I agree with many of his policies. But do I think he’s the right president to run? No,” said Haley. “We can’t handle any more chaos.”
Haley then turned on Christie, saying she was “obsessed” with the former president.

“I mean God bless him, he’s a friend. He is obsessed with Trump,” he said. “He sleeps, eats and breathes, every day. I think bigger than that. If we do that, we are no different than Trump.”
Haley also confirmed that she would forgive Trump for any wrongdoing he allegedly committed “in the national interest,” after scolding the child that he was “not John Kerry.”
“What is in the best interest of the country is not to have an 80-year-old man sitting in prison who continues to divide our country,” he said.
Kerry – a former senator from Massachusetts, former secretary of state and current President Biden’s special climate envoy – spent much of his 2004 presidential campaign fighting accusations that he had failed to oppose the war in Iraq after voting to authorize the use of military force against Saddam Hussein’s government.
Haley made the remarks while fighting backlash over her failure to cite chattel slavery as a major cause of the Civil War in response to questions from an audience at a Berlin town hall Wednesday night.

He began his appearance in North Conway by addressing the issue, saying the war was “certainly” about slavery, but there were “bigger issues.”
“We are doing the right thing and slavery is no more,” he said. “But the lesson of the larger issue with the Civil War is — let’s not forget what came of it — which is the role of government, individual freedom, freedom for everyone, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to do things. and be whatever you want without anyone or the government stopping you.
“That should be the goal we always try to take from that, right?”
Haley also tried to clean up her mistake by claiming Biden and the Democratic Party sent “plants” to raise Civil War questions to sabotage her event.
