While pursuing her undergraduate studies, Nitya performed in various theater productions. He is an active member of the Sophia College English Dramatic Society (SCEDA), a college club that organizes many theater productions and acting workshops. He has worked as a theater artist with Thespo, a youth theater festival. He has also worked for theater companies such as QTP and The Company Theatre. In 2019, he worked in the drama ‘Fats The Arts Bone of Contention in Cosmopolitan’ which opened at the Prithvi Festival in Mumbai.

- In an interview, Nitya Mathur recalled her audition for the Web series Taaza Khabar and said that she was suffering from COVID-19 when she auditioned for the Disney+ series Hotsytar. Nitya Mathur says,
I remember I got a call from Navratan Mehta’s team, who was the casting director and they briefed me. This is my time recovering from COVID. I still remember the first round of self-test auditions I did. I am in my room. My friend was on a zoom call with me, giving me a signal (because it was a conversation scene) and I was really sick at the time. But as soon as I heard about the project, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. So after 2 to 3 days, I got a call back, and they asked me to do some more massages.
- Besides acting, Nitya is interested in writing. He has published several works on his website, including Jive – A Short Story, We need more ‘Loev’!, and Go go go chai time.
