Nothing can stop Ed Sheeran from giving a magical performance!
Shortly after the recording artist opted out of his previously scheduled performance at Allegiant Stadium, located just below the Vegas Strip, he surprised the couple during their wedding ceremony. Sheeran regretfully announced the cancellation of the show through a statement posted on his Instagram account.
Ed Sheeran Stands as Witness to THIS Couple’s Wedding After Singing to Them
Since Sheeran had little free time after his show’s cancellation, he decided to tick “marriage breaking” off his bucket list. With acoustic guitar in hand, the singer-songwriter surprised everyone by appearing at the famous Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, where the newlyweds exchanged vows.
The moment, captured on film and shared via the “Shape of You” hitmaker’s Instagram account, began with the couple, identified as Jordan and Carter Lindenfield, holding hands and preparing to exchange vows.
Suddenly, the famous singer, accompanied by an acoustic guitar and several backup singers, appeared out of nowhere to perform “Magical.” Singing the chorus of the song, which is from his upcoming album, “Autumn Variations,” the 32-year-old sang:
“This is what it feels like to fall in love/ This is magic, this is magic/ Is this what it feels like to fall in love?/ This is magic, this is magic.”
MEGA
The happy — but still shocked — couple composed themselves long enough to finish their vows before asking for a photo with Sheeran, who witnessed the ceremony by signing their wedding certificate.
Underneath the touching clip, the Grammy Award winner reflects, “Breaking the marriage, this is Magical x.” Taking to the comments section to express her appreciation, the newly minted Mrs. Lindenfield wrote:
“THANK YOU SO MUCH for the most magical day of our lives ? we really will never forget this or the marriage advice you gave us ❤️❤️❤️.”
“You are the boss. Just make memories of people’s lives by going out of your way for an hour. Legend Ed,” one viewer commented, as another pointed out, “This is amazing… THE GROOM looks like HE wants to cry.”
A third onlooker jokingly told Sheeran, “Just wanted to let you know that you can ruin my wedding too. I haven’t set a date, tbh I don’t have a fiancé, but baby steps,” and a fourth added, “Magical is magical. Thank you Ed for always bringing beauty into my life ❤️.”
As for his canceled show, The Blast reports that the “Thinking Out Loud” performer told his fans in a statement that read, “I can’t believe I’m typing this, but there were some challenges with loading our Vegas show. It’s impossible to go ahead with the show . I am sorry.”
After expressing his regret for inconveniencing his fans, especially those who had traveled to attend the concert, the “Castle on the Hill” singer gave the new date, “Saturday, October 28,” adding, “and all tickets purchased will be valid for that date . I’m so, so sorry x.”
It was later revealed that the cancellation of the show was due to safety concerns sparked by a floor problem encountered during Sheeran’s sound check setup. As he shared via a subsequent update:
“A little more context about yesterday’s cancellation. It’s a safety issue, and we’re really trying to do our best to make the show a success but I’m not going to risk my fans’ safety for anything.”
Plagiarism Case Against ‘Bad Habits’ Artist Dismissed In May
Apart from cementing his place in the hearts of the public, Sheeran has won in the courtroom. The Blast shares that the Brit Award recipient’s second copyright claim will not be heard by a jury following its dismissal by US District Judge Louis Stanton.
The lawsuit was brought by Structured Asset Sales LLC, which claims that the Halifax-born star’s “Thinking Out Loud” bears similarities to Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” suggesting that the English pop singer plagiarized the classic.
The plaintiffs own one-third of the shares of “Let’s Get It On,” which was acquired from the family of co-writer Ed Townsend in 2018. In a surprising twist, Judge Stanton dismissed the copyright case, stating that the elements the plaintiffs allegedly plagiarized were not protectable under copyright law because of their common nature.
The decision follows Sheeran’s recent court success in early May, where he won another case of alleged copyright infringement involving Gaye’s 1973 song.
