The host at the Robert De Niro-founded Nobu Malibu – the favorite sushi lounge of Beyonce, the Kardashians and even the embattled eldest son Hunter Biden – claims she was sexually assaulted at the restaurant, which allegedly forced female employees to accept constant sexual harassment. , according to a new lawsuit.
The hostess, identified as 23-year-old Jane Doe, filed a $500,000 lawsuit on Wednesday against the celebrity hotspot, which she said forced its female workforce to “wear minimal clothing and fend off unwanted sexual advances from managers and customers.”
“It is a frustrating irony that Nobu caters to a Hollywood client list that routinely resists and cancels contemporaries who exhibit the same kind of misogynistic and exploitative behavior that Nobu’s managers encourage,” Doe’s attorney, Bernard Alexander, said in a statement.
Doe, an aspiring actor, said he was drawn to Nobu’s glamorous reputation in Hollywood, as stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and Selena Gomez can be spotted on any given night.

The charm, however, quickly wears off when Doe finds herself at the mercy of trusted customers, with routine harassment escalating when she is attacked by a former manager known only as Marcus, according to the suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. .
“[Marcus] “Repeatedly touching his back with his hand while he was working,” Alexander said. “At one point, the manager held both of his hands and kissed his neck after he’d had a drink.”
The former manager is also accused of obtaining the phone numbers of women from the Nobu employee directory and calling them for dates and sexual relations.

After Doe and other servers filed complaints, Marcus was fired in 2022. However, he was allowed to return as a customer — where he continued to harass female employees who complained about him, the lawsuit says.
Doe accused management of making her and her co-workers “endure blatant sexual harassment and abuse in order to preserve Nobu’s glamorous reputation and keep their jobs.”
The lawsuit added that it was “harassing, non-consensual, and based on Plaintiff’s gender,” as male employees allegedly had no such problems at the restaurant.

The Nobu chain was founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa as a joint venture with his loyal customer turned business partner Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper.
