A Norwegian cruise ship lost power when a “rogue wave” broke a window on the bridge as it sailed in the North Sea with 266 people on board Thursday.
The cruise ship Maud, en route to England, lost the ability to steer after its electricity went out, Denmark’s Joint Rescue Coordination Center said, according to Reuters.
Punishing winds broke windows on the ship’s bridge, causing water to flood in.
The “temporary loss of power” occurred after the Maud was hit by a “rogue wave,” ship owner HK told The Post in a statement.

The ship, which also has 131 crew, was sailing from Floroe in Norway to Tilbury in the UK, a spokeswoman for the center said.
A spokesman for the Danish Joint Rescue Coordination Center said that the “situation was under control” and that the vessel was being steered manually from the engine room, although it was unable to steer.
Authorities plan to tow the ship to a Danish port around 10:30pm local time overseas.
The cruise line said “no serious injuries to passengers or crew” were reported as a result of the incident and the condition of the ship was “stable.”
“In accordance with our robust operational protocols, in addition to ensuring the well-being of all passengers, the crew immediately conducted a thorough security check and technical assessment,” HX said.
“Further assessments are now being made for the next voyage. The ship is in direct contact with the relevant maritime authorities and shore support teams.”
HX is a unit of the Norwegian Hurtigruten Group.
