Two more victims have been added to the death toll of a Pennsylvania nurse accused of killing a patient.
Heather Pressdee has now been charged with manslaughter in the deaths of four patients, and faces 17 counts of attempted murder for allegedly giving fatal doses of insulin to multiple patients at different rehabilitation centers where she worked, Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry announced this week.
In all, Pressdee, 41, is accused of abusing 22 patients, ranging in age from 43 to 104, since 2020, according to the Attorney General’s office.
In all, 17 of Pressdee’s patients have died, though he has not been charged in those deaths, authorities said.
“The allegations against Ms Pressdee are worrying. It is difficult to understand how a nurse, trusted to care for her patients, could choose to deliberately and systematically harm them,” said Henry.
Pressdee has a history of discipline for abusive behavior, according to court documents.
Her nursing license was suspended earlier this year after she was arrested in May for killing two patients.

He had complained to his mother in text messages about patients, co-workers and others he met, including at Arby’s, Taco Bell and pizzerias, and talked about harming them, according to documents.
“If you get like this, you’ll get pillow therapy,” he said in one message, apparently referring to shortness of breath.
“I can’t be with this woman tonight,” he said in another text, authorities said. “He’s going to get pillow therapy.”
“This nurse could have died today,” he said in a January text to his mother.
In 2018, he wrote on Facebook, “Could kill a doctor today” and stated in a different post, “if you should take 2 units, but accidentally take 10 units instead, it can be fatal within hours.”

An attorney for Pressdee said he was trying to avoid the death penalty, and the new charges were not unexpected, according to reports.
The alleged crimes occurred while Pressdee was employed as a registered nurse at the following facilities: Concordia at Rebecca Residence; Belair Health Care and Rehabilitation (Caregiver); Chicora Quality Life Services; Armstrong Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Pressdee worked briefly at several nursing homes and facilities in western Pennsylvania since 2018, according to the documents, and before that worked as a veterinary technician.
