NYPD accused of forcing son of Elie Wiesel to put away Israeli flag during confrontation with anti-Israel protesters

The son of late Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel said police forced him to put down an Israeli flag as he confronted pro-Palestinian protesters during a mass rally in Penn Station on Monday.

Elisha Weisel, 51, post a video on X himself wearing a flag while arguing violently with the protestors, who were wearing black masks covering their faces.

Protesters called out Weisel for coming to a Manhattan rally wearing an Israeli flag, while a former Goldman Sachs executive blasted the man for describing his flag as a symbol of “terror.”

“Take off your mask,” Weisel said as he grabbed the other man’s hand in an effort to remove the phone that was recording him.

“Don’t touch me, man,” the protester warned as Weisel continued to tell him to take off his mask.

Weisel continued to call the protesters cowards for hiding behind face masks, with the masked man becoming increasingly irritated, until a nearby NYPD officer who witnessed the interaction broke the man down.

Weisel later claimed on social media that NYPD officers told him to get the flag off his back because “the situation was getting dangerous.”

He added that the police would not allow him to continue his counter-protest.

The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment Tuesday.

Separately, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin also got into a heated shouting match with protesters at Penn Station.

When he was asked if he condemned Israel, Baldwin replied, “No, I support peace for Gaza.”

An angry protester shouted at Baldwin: “Shut up your kings, you have no shame kings!”

Another yelled, “Your career is retarded, by the way!”

Penn Station was just one site of pro-Palestinian protests that engulfed Midtown on Monday night, with hundreds also marching to Grand Central Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Protesters are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, where nearly 20,000 people have been killed during the war, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

The NYPD said six people were arrested during Monday’s pro-Palestinian protest in the city and that those busted were between 19 and 40 years old.
