Police in Texas say the social media challenge that teenagers join “causes both physical and emotional stress for residents of all ages.”
The Friendswood Police Department said they had received reports from victims of the “viral TikTok Door Knock challenge that encourages individuals to knock or kick on doors in the middle of the night in an attempt to shock residents.”
Doorbell camera video posted to the department’s Facebook page shows teenagers running through the neighborhood in the middle of the night, with one even using a 5-gallon jug of water to knock on the front door of a home.
“I would tell them to stop it before they get hurt, or they hurt somebody. Please don’t do this. It’s wrong. It’s so wrong,” 77-year-old victim Gwen told FOX 26 Houston. “It’s scary. It’s scary. It was very scary.”
The challenge is not only terrifying, but possibly criminal.
Several kicks and bangs on the door caused the damage, Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Deputy Chief Constable Jimmy Evans told FOX 26.

“This is a very dangerous game, a very dangerous game,” Evans added, calling the challenge a new challenge on the ding, dong, ditch. “I’m afraid the home owners might think someone is trying to rob their home and some innocent children could be shot or killed.”
Friendswood police say they are in the process of identifying what appears to be the teenage male who kicked and slammed the door.

They are asking victims to come forward, especially if they have video of the alleged crime in the act.
As for Gwen, she told FOX 26 it will cost $2,500 to repair her cracked door piece from the bottom of the frame.
