“It’s hard for me to talk about shit right now,” he said. “I never talked about this. Seriously. Talking about taking is hard, man. Talking about all these things is difficult. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That hurts. ‘It will get me fired up, and I don’t want to be in that mood.”
He continued, “Some things I’ve never told anyone. He is not here. That shit feels fake, bro. I go through my days thinking it’s fake. And I didn’t say anything to anyone about it.”
The 31-year-old hitmaker’s mood turned sour as he talked about his struggle to lose his friend. Needing time to pull herself together from the emotional outburst, she told the interviewer she needed a break.
Even as the rapper and father of five deals with his friend’s death, he chooses to remember his friend in a big way. Offset told the news outlet that he has a new song with Takeoff on his new album, which they recorded last summer.
While playing the song, he revealed another way he remembers his former bandmates. “You have to see this!” he exclaimed before lifting up his hoodie to reveal a large tattoo of Takeoff’s face etched across his back. “It’s my favorite picture of him,” the rapper said. “I like that he took off his glasses.”
Offset debuted the tattoo on his Instagram in April with two pictures. She captioned them, “Love you 4L & after ?.” The tattoo shows the late 28-year-old rapper from his chest to his face adorned with different gold chains, halos around his head and shoulders, and rockets and outer space surrounding him.

How Offset Reacted to the News of the Death of Takeoff
While the “Clout” rapper hasn’t spoken publicly about the impact of losing his bandmates and close friends, his wife, Cardi B, has explained how the loss of Takeoff has affected her husband and their family.
During a January interview with Jason Lee on the “Hollywood Unlocked” podcast, the “Yellow Bodak” singer recalled how their lives changed when they heard the news.
The “Up” singer recalled that they were in bed when the “terrible” phone call came late at night. He recalls, “We had just fallen asleep, and out of nowhere, Offset’s phone kept ringing, my phone kept ringing. Offset picked up the phone and was just like, ‘No!’ And he screamed and screamed. And I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ He was like, ‘Departure is dead.'”
Due to her husband’s reaction, the mother of two had to “beat” her husband and yell at him, “Don’t say that!” while refusing to believe the news was accurate. Cardi went on to share that Offset was physically sick when she found out. “He just screams, throws things, vomits, runs around. I am really afraid. I cried a lot. It’s very bad.”
After they heard the sad news, the “WAP” singer revealed that the energy in her house changed instantly. He said, “It was a very sensitive time in my house. I think it’s all so triggering. It is a lot.”

The moving tribute read, “My heart is broken, and I have so much to say, but I can’t find the words.
