As Kelly Clarkson sang in her “American Idol” swan song, “Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this…”
Longtime fans of the reality TV series will likely agree that some moments might top the original trio of judges reuniting to honor Clarkson at her Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony!
Earlier today, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson posed with Clarkson for a photo where Clarkson can be seen proudly holding her new star-studded plaque.
Not only is 2022 the year Clarkson receives the prestigious star, but it also marks the series’ 20th anniversary! Clarkson rose to fame as a contestant on its first season and ended up being the inaugural winner of the show!
Clarkson Won’t ‘Separate’ From Her ‘American Idol’ Roots!
Earlier this month, Clarkson celebrated the two-decade anniversary of winning the first contest on Instagram.
The Blast was right alongside Clarkson in celebrating her big moment when we shared she had posted a touching tribute!
Clarkson touched on the many aspects in which “American Idol” has shaped her life.
In the post, Clarkson wrote, “20 years ago today [September 4th] I won ‘American Idol’ and forever changed the course of my life. That moment was a door that opened so many accesses and opportunities, and creative partnerships that I will be grateful for all my days. The family and friendships I’ve made over the last 20 years in music and tv are priceless to me. We only get so many trips around the sun and although I feel proud and blessed with the many successes and failures I have learned, I am most proud and grateful for the friends who have become family, and for the arms that have held me when I needed them and the hearts of those who listen to me when I feel lost. Without them I would not be where I am. I might not be here at all.” (per The Blast)
‘American Idol’ Judge OG Help Celebrate Clarkson’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star!
Jackson, Cowell and Abdul gathered with Clarkson during the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony to honor her in a touching way!
According to Today, the three judges are guest speakers.
“I actually thought I was getting punched on the first day,” Cowell told Clarkson in his speech. Referring to the moment Clarkson first walked into the room for her audition, she continued, “Paula was resigned. Every singer was out of tune and getting progressively worse. I thought, ‘This is an absolute disaster, why are we here?’ And thank God, I remember the day we met you and I remember not only your voice, but your personality…”
The notoriously ‘cruel’ judge had nothing but gratitude and very nice things to say about his relationship with Clarkson as he continued his speech!
“Thanks to you, I am here today. You confirm what we do. If we don’t find a star, there’s no point in doing this show,” Cowell continued. He also revealed Clarkson made him believe “American Idol” had a future after its first season.
Clarkson also spoke at the event, of course!
“This is where I won 20 years ago,” he began his speech, “I feel very blessed and lucky because I know a lot of people who love to sing and are great at it and write songs, and also host a talk show – a lot of people can do so, and I feel so blessed that I got that opportunity. There are dreams that you don’t even know you have, and they finally come true and you feel so blessed,” Clarkson concluded.
Clarkson released her first album “Thankful” just a year after she won the series, and it was the first in a series of career successes, the latest of which included hosting her own talk show. Clarkson has hosted “The Kelly Clarkson Show” since 2019.
