Ohio police released body camera footage Friday showing an officer fatally shooting a pregnant mother of two when a suspected shoplifter refused to leave her car and sped toward her.
The video shows that shortly before Ta’Kiya Young, 21, of Columbus was shot in his black sedan outside a Kroger in Blendon Township on Aug. 24, officers repeatedly barked at him to “get out of the car!”
When Young asked why he was told to get out of his vehicle, which was in a handicapped spot, he was told, “They said you stole something, don’t leave.”
The mother of two sons, ages 3 and 6, responded, “I didn’t do s–t, the other girl took it [stuff].”
One of the cops, standing at the driver’s side window, said, “Get out!” before he slammed his fist on the window.
The second officer, who was standing on the hood of his car with his hands on the hood, yelled, “Get out of the f–king car!”
As Young sped toward him, he fired a shot through his windshield.
Screams can be heard, and the car moves slowly through the parking lot, spinning around a support pole on a building before crashing into the brick front of a grocery store.

The police chased after him, shouting: “Stop the damn car!” as they pointed a gun at the driver’s side window.
A second officer tried to open his locked door but was unable to, using his elbow to break the partially open window to gain access to Young, who was slumped over the central attorney.
The officer then provided medical aid to Young, who was not shown in the video, Blendon Township Chief John Belford told the AP.
Young was later pronounced dead, and her unborn child did not survive. Her child is expected to be born in November.

“She was so excited to have this little girl,” Nadine Young, her grandmother, said at a news conference Wednesday. “He has two sons of his own, but he was so excited to have this girl. He will be sorely missed.”
Young’s family viewed the footage prior to his release, saying in a statement through their attorney Sean Walton, “Having viewed the footage in its entirety, there is no denying that Ta’Kiya’s death was not only avoidable, but a grave abuse of power and authority. .”
The family is now seeking criminal charges against the officer.

Walton said the family was disappointed by the police department’s delay in releasing the footage publicly.
Belford said the delay was due to a small staff trying to properly process the video and edit certain footage, such as the officer’s face and badge number, in accordance with Ohio law.
The officers are on paid administrative leave while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the matter.
