Ohio pastor dies trying to save two sons in early morning house fire: ‘They all perished’

An Ohio pastor died trying to save his two sons from a horrific early morning fire.

Mark Robinette, 55, and his sons, ages 10 and 17, died in a fire at the family’s home in Orient shortly after midnight Tuesday, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Investigators were first notified of the fire around 12:30 a.m., the store explained.

“Last night around midnight, my brother Mark Robinette lost his life trying to save the lives of his two children,” Robinette’s brother, Paul, wrote on Facebook Tuesday afternoon, along with a photo of the charred home.

“There was a fire inside the house, and Mark managed to get Andrea and two children out of the house to safety, but when he tried to save the other two, they all perished in the fire. Please keep his wife…and children in your prayers,” the grieving sibling added.

Robinette is a vocational pastor and founding elder of the Church Foundation at Mt. Sterling, the congregation’s website said.

Robinette and his wife, Andrea Trapani Robinette, share eight children, the pastor’s church biography reads.

A few years ago, the couple proudly beamed with their eldest son in a holiday photo shared on Facebook.

Robinette and her family are active in missionary work in Myanmar, and lead the Church Foundation’s “Mission to Myanmar” group, the church’s website said.

Three other people were injured in the fire, and were released from the hospital on Tuesday morning, the Columbus Dispatch said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
