Omi Vaidya started his acting career with his debut film ‘Rolling’ (2007) where he played the role of ‘Assar.’ His role as “Chatur Ramalingam” or “The Silencer,” in the movie ‘3 Idiots,’ (2009) is one of his most appreciated performances. In an interview, Omi stated that he was on his way to Mumbai when he auditioned for the film ‘3 Idiots’ and said,
When I was planning my trip back to America, a friend of mine who was involved with 3 Idiots told me about the role they were auditioning for NRI Actors. Since I neither speak Hindi nor watch Bollywood Movies, I am not interested in auditioning. Also, the role hasn’t been written yet. At the audition, I had to say a line from the movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai. I was very brave and nonchalant when I said those words mainly because I didn’t think I would get the role. I was offered the role when I returned from the audition.”
In 2011, he acted in films like ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji,’ where he played the role of ‘Milind Kelkar.’
He appeared in the movie ‘Desi Boyz’ (2011) where he appeared as ‘Ajay.’ Omi has done a bunch of movies including ‘Players’ (2012), ‘Jodi Breakers’ (2012), ‘Mirror Game’ (2017), ‘Blackmail’ (2018), and many more. In 2023, he played the role of ‘Scientist’ in the US-Bangladesh joint venture action thriller ‘MR-9: Do or Die.’
