The 36-year-old grew up as a member of the Westboro Baptist Church, known as a hate cult for their “homphobic pickets”. The Instagram influencer and fitness model was brought into the organization by her father when she was 14, but recently, she left the Church and started her social media career, which has taken off.
He discussed his experience in a 2013 story titled “Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church,” but also opened up about that chapter in his life while on Michael Sartain’s podcast.
“They provide you with this information about what will happen to you if you get kicked out,” he said. “I think when I got home, I saw my face marked,” he continued.
Lauren Drain Sacrificed Her Family

When Lauren Drain Kagan decided to leave, she thought her family would support her, however, that didn’t happen. “I’m so low, these 70 people are the only people I’ve related to for seven years,” Drain continued to explain while on the podcast. “My mother, my father, my brothers, they cut me off at once, they said I was not worthy of God, not worthy of them.”
“I can’t make a phone call, I can’t go home for dinner, I can’t drive by the house. If you’re separated from everyone you love for one day, and they tell you, ‘go on your own’, that’s what I have,” he said.
During that time, she focused on her career as a nurse, which helped her recover her mental health. “Thank God I’m really safe in my job because it’s the only security I have in life… I honestly just get it done and work as best I can because I don’t really have a life outside of it,” he added.
