The former professional boxer shares a daughter with Shanna Moakler named Atiana De La Hoya. When Moakler married Travis Barker, she treated Atiana like her own daughter. How could he not be a four-year-old whose father divorced his mother and never looked back.
De La Hoya is grateful. He realized that he had taken over the role and that his daughter was lucky enough to have another man who stepped up in a positive way. He also acknowledges his mother and thanks them for getting him through.
The whole awkward apology came during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He went on to say, “Look, I’m not raising my kids, you know?”

De La Hoya went on to say, “I have to give credit where credit is due,” noting, “I’m grateful that Barker was there, you know, as a father figure for my daughter.” Moakler and De La Hoya divorced in 2000, Atiana was 1 year old.
He admitted that he was an “absentee father.” Dan admits, “I have to be thankful that Shanna is Atiana’s mother … And just knows my place, basically, you know?” he also explained his current role.
“My place — I’m obviously a father, and I’m proud of that, but, again, I’m grateful for what they’ve done. Especially with Barker. He clearly stepped up to the plate.”
Throughout Barker’s marriage to Moakler and after their divorce, Atiana remained a staple in the rock star’s life. Wherever her children with Moakler Landon and Alabama go, Atiana is always welcomed.
