The Houston police department held a press conference shortly after the killing of the “Versace” rapper appealing to the public for help in finding the person who fired the fatal shot. They state that many people fled the scene and they want them to call in with tips and can remain anonymous if they like.

They also stated that social media is not an appropriate channel to inform the police what they know. “We know that the media receives a lot of phone calls, text messages, Twitter, tweets, vines, videos; we need you all to send it to us,” said Sgt. Arrington of the Houston police department.

Leader Troy Finner also took the time to inform the public that this should not reflect negatively on the hip hop community as the fans and family have always seen Takeoff as a non-problem. “Sometimes the hip hop community gets a bad name and I know obviously from this city and people that I have a personal relationship with, there are a lot of great people in the hip hop community and I respect them.”
