Purisai Rajamani Sundar was born on Saturday, 28 March 1964 (age 58 years; in 2022) in Purisai, Tamil Nadu, India. His zodiac sign is Aries. Sundar completed his schooling in a Tamil language corporation school. Due to the poor financial condition of his home, he was sent to a charitable trust hostel in Chennai. Career
As a teacher
After Sundar completed his studies, he was appointed as a mathematics teacher in a school in Gujarat. In 1993, he got the opportunity to move to Singapore to teach mathematics at a school. After spending around 12 years in Singapore, in 2005, he returned to India. Besides teaching, Sundar decided to start his own business as an alternative source of income. One of Sundar’s relatives advised him to attend the NSE Academy Certification in Financial Management (NCFM) exam. While preparing for the exams, he soon developed an interest in the stock market and began investing through stock trading and IPOs (Initial Public Offerings).
As a stock market analyst and trader
In 2007, Sundar started investing in the stock market. Initially, he invested in Aban Offshore (formerly known as Aban Lloyd), Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. (formerly known as Camlin Ltd.), and L&T (Larsen & Toubro). Since May 2016, he has been working as a sales and marketing specialist at CBA Capital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. On 30 June 2017, Sundar was appointed as a director of Mansun Consultancy Private Limited, which is mainly engaged in financial intermediation and consultancy services. In June 2020, Sundar was appointed as an account manager at Cryptrade Network in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland. He served there for 2 years and a month until June 2022. PR Sundar has a self-titled YouTube channel, where he posts videos related to the stock market; the channel has more than 1 million subscribers. As of September 2022, major investments in its portfolio have been made in SP Apparels Ltd, Kalyani Investment Company Ltd, Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd, HCL Technologies Ltd, India Motor Parts & Accessories Ltd, and RPP Infra Projects Ltd.
Controversy
Troll for making money from training instead of trading
Sundar, who initially earned his income through stock trading, was advised by his broker to start giving training classes on stock market strategies. The amount he charges for a two-day workshop is around Rs 50000, and for his coaching program, he charges around Rs 20 lakh. Sundar was slammed by netizens for making huge amounts of money from youtube advice videos on stock market training courses instead of actual stock market trading. In an interview, he expressed his displeasure at the criticism he received for making more money training than trading and said,
Why is it important? At the end of the day, all we have to do is make money. Are there any government regulations that say one cannot make more money in training than in trading? Both are independent businesses. If Virat Kohli makes more money doing commercials than playing cricket, does it matter? The money comes from all legitimate means.”
Criticized for offensive comments
In November 2022, PR Sundar was heavily criticized for using abusive and offensive language when he had an argument with a user on his Twitter handle. Sundar’s conversation with users regarding the concept of Mark-to-Market (MTM) (Mark-to-market is an accounting method to determine the fair value of assets or liabilities based on current market prices) on his trading, turned into a heated argument after Sundar passed controversial comments about women and their virginity following her being heavily criticized for her unacceptable and wrong choice of words.

Later, Sundar posted a video on his YouTube channel where he apologized for using indecent words and said,
I lost my patience. I am sorry. People say I shouldn’t use certain unparliamentary words and I agree. Of course, needless to say I didn’t mean it that way. I’m tweeting him just for argument purposes so he understands the concept. Otherwise, I don’t know if he has a daughter or not.”
An investigation was launched by SEBI
In November 2022, the Securities and Exchange Board of India launched an investigation against PR Sundar, his son, and his company Mansun Consultancy Pvt Ltd for allegedly providing consultancy services on investment measures without registering with SEBI. According to SEBI guidelines, if any person is found involved in providing investment advisory services without being registered with SEBI, appropriate action can be taken against him, under the SEBI Act, 1992. In an interview, Sundar spoke about being investigated by SEBI and said,
This was a two year old thing when I was associated with a Sebi registered advisory company. Instead of taking payment from the company, my firm collected the payment on their behalf. We received the first show cause notice in May 2022 and another this month. We are helping Sebi with all the details.”

- Sundar mainly deals in options trading and is involved in the selling of options as opposed to the buying and selling of stocks. (An option is a contract made by the seller that conveys the right to the buyer to buy or sell a certain asset, at a certain price in the future) He believed that investors with large capital should invest in the sale of options. In an interview, he presented his reasons for investing in options instead of stocks and said,
When you buy and sell stocks, the probability of winning is 50 percent, but when you sell options, the probability is 80 percent. This is a game of probability. For my skills and temperament, the best way to make money is only through options, not futures or cash markets.”
