Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian Badminton Player. She is the only Indian woman to win two individual Olympic medals. In March 2015, Sindhu was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, for her contribution to sports. In 2018, she ranked seventh on the Forbes list of “Highest Paid Female Athletes” and ranked first on Forbes India’s first list of 22 Young Achievers.

PV Sindhu was born on 5 July 1995 (age 27 years; in 2022) in Hyderabad. His zodiac sign is Cancer.
He attended Auxilium High School. He was good at studies in his childhood and wanted to become a doctor. Sindhu started playing Badminton when she was only 8 and a half years old. At first, he played for fun but soon he realized that he wanted to make a career out of it. He enrolled himself at the Indian Railway Institute in Secunderabad to learn the basics of the game from Mehboob Ali and later joined Pullela Gopichand’s badminton academy to improve his skills. Sindhu till now (as in 2019) is coached by Pullela Gopichand. Notably, he is also the head coach of the Indian Badminton team. After that, he enrolled himself in the College of St. Ann for Women to pursue MBA studies.

PV Sindhu is the daughter of PV Ramana and P. Vijaya. Both his parents are former Volleyball players. His father, PV Ramana, was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution to sports. He has an older sister, Divyaram Pusarla, who was a national level handball player and later became a doctor.
Career
Sindhu made her international debut as a Badminton Player in 2009 in the Asian Sub-Junior Badminton Championships in Colombo and won the bronze medal. Next, he played at the 2010 Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge, where he won the silver medal in the singles category. In 2011, he won the Gold medal in the singles event at the Douglas Commonwealth Youth Games. It was a turning point in his life. However, his best performance came in 2012, when he defeated 2012 London Olympics gold medalist Li Xuerui of China at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series competition. In 2013, Sindhu became the first Indian women’s singles player to win a medal at the World Badminton Championships. After that, She defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals of the 2016 Summer Olympics and made her entry to the finals. With this, he became the first Indian to reach the finals of the 2016 Summer Olympics. He also became the youngest Indian to reach the podium in an individual event at the Olympics. However, Sidhu was defeated by Carolina Marin in the 83-minute final, winning the silver medal at the Summer Olympics. In 2018, she won the World Tour title after defeating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the 2018 World Tour final.
On 1 August 2021, she became the first Indian woman to win two individual Olympic medals when she defeated China’s He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 to win the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In July 2022, she won the Singapore Open title; he defeated China’s Zhi Yi Wang.
