P-Valley creator and showrunner Katori Hall has paused production of the hit Starz drama while adding another show to the writers’ strike shutdown.

Like most people in this situation, the writer’s strike forced the hand of those who wanted to be with them in this fight. Hall shared the statement on Twitter.
“Despite rumors, due to #WGA #WritersStrike filming in #PValley has been postponed. Like many of my peers, I feel as though my duties of writing & producing are inextricably linked. We will not film until a fair agreement is reached. #WGAStrong.”

He reminded his Twitter followers. “I am also a member of #DGA, whose #AMPTP contract begins negotiations TODAY. The issues are overlapping, and we will see how this story ends. As a writer, I strike with a radical sense of dignity — that our work must be valued for its wonder. #WGAStrong #WritersStrike.”

Many believed that Hall would not suspend production on the show due to alleged filming, and no announcement was made. Hall made it clear this week.

This is not the first time he has spoken about the strike. At the start of the strike, he retweeted many of his fellow writers and fellow industry sentiments about the strike, effectively drawing attention to the matter.
But this is the first time he has used his words to agree to the strike. Hall joins others who are speaking out about the writers’ strike this week. Mayim Bialik chose to withdraw from filming last week as host Danger.
Gabourey Sidibe spoke to Deadline from the picket line, where he made it clear that he stood with the writers. “I attract writers because if they don’t work, I can’t work.”
Robin Thede, creator and star of HBO Black Women’s Sketch Show, asking studio heads to “stop being cheap.” Saying, “I’m drawing attention because paying writers a daily rate is disgusting. We are still professionals and deserve to be paid that way.”
