Pablo Lyle, a Mexican actor, was sentenced to five years in prison, eight years of probation, and 500 hours of community service on Friday, February 3, 2023, for beating a man to death during a road rage incident. During a road rage incident in Miami, Florida in April 2019, Pablo Lyle got into a fight with 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez. The former reportedly attacked Hernandez, who fell on the street.
The man apparently suffered brain damage and died four days later at a nearby hospital. Lyle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the killing in October 2022. Lyle is a Mexican telenovela performer known for his appearances in La Sombra Del Pasado and Yankee. According to the Associated Press, he has been in prison since his conviction in October last year.

Hernández’s son asked that Pablo Lyle get the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
According to ABC, Pablo Lyle risks up to 15 years in prison. Lyle’s defense claimed he punched Hernandez in self-defense since he was with his children at the time of the incident and feared the 63-year-old was armed. Hernandez was found without a weapon. Lyle’s defense team asked for a new trial immediately after the conviction in October, but Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez denied the motion. He claims that security video of the event, which shows Lyle walking up to Hernandez and hitting him, proves he was the primary aggressor. Tinkler said,
“The evidence shows that Mr. Lyle’s actions were violent. Mr. Lyle must take responsibility for his actions.”
Juan Ricardo Hernández Jr., Hernandez’s son, wants the court to give Lyle the maximum sentence of 15 years. He testified in court that he was there when his father died. Furthermore, the victim’s son claimed to see his father immediately after being hospitalized, where he died four days later.
Hernandez Junior stated:
“I refuse to believe it’s him.”
Mercedes Arce, the victim’s fiancee, stated:
“I know (Pablo Lyle’s) intention was not to kill him, but anything can happen in a second. Every action has an effect.”
In response to the victim’s family’s appeal for the maximum sentence, Tinkler said that neither side would be satisfied with the decision:
“This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. No one here will be satisfied. No one here will ever forget the suffering this caused.”
According to Fox News, Pablo Lyle only apologized in an official statement to the victim’s family for his behavior during the trial hearing, saying:
“I am really sorry. I always pray for him and for you from the bottom of my heart.”
According to the Miami Herald, the trial was closely watched by the Latin American community.
