Over the weekend, the “Stars Are Blind” singer shared her first selfie photo with the Princess of Pop and asked fans to send in their own fun selfies to celebrate the occasion!

On Sunday evening, Paris Hilton shared two photos of the two singing stars posing for some pictures together. In the first photo, the two stand back to back as they pose for the photo.

Fans were quick to call them “icons” and “queens” although one follower was quick to point out that Paris Hilton was not actually credited as the creator of the selfie.
One fan wrote, “I went to see if Wikipedia credited you for the word but I found this to be the opposite,” sharing a selfie Wikipedia entry that states that the modern selfie originated in Japanese kawaii culture dating back to the 1990s. .

Despite what Wikipedia says, it seems the 42-year-old entrepreneur is taking credit for it. While he may not have “invented” the selfie, he certainly popularized it!

However, another follower shared a Wikipedia entry about Robert Cornelius, who is thought to have taken a picture of himself in 1839, creating the first selfie.
Still, that didn’t stop fans from praising Paris for her “invention.” As a fan comment, “Thank you, Paris and Britney for creating the selfie. One of man’s greatest inventions, second only to the man who invented ‘cheese’.”
