Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, scored a major breakthrough in a sexual assault case filed against him by a restaurant owner.
The media personality was accused of non-consensual misconduct by a woman named Aspen Vaughn, an incident that allegedly took place in February 2023. Since the lawsuit emerged, Jackson’s lawyers have actively supported his innocence, and a judge recently ruled in his favor.

The sexual misconduct allegations against the NFL star’s brother saw him face three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one charge of misdemeanor battery. However, three felony charges against Jackson were dismissed by a judge in a recent trial.
A motion to dismiss these charges was filed by Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens on Tuesday, January 2. Although Jackson no longer has to worry about criminal charges, his misdemeanor battery charge remains.
Charges were filed against him through the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office for allegedly assaulting the female victim. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s younger brother is accused of grabbing Vaughn by the neck and kissing her against her will on February 25, 2023.
The alleged crime took place at the woman’s Aspens Restaurant and Lounge business in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City. According to reports, investigators allege Jackson pushed back a waiter who tried to access his room with Vaughn.
After shooing the waitress away, he grabbed Vaughn and reportedly kissed her three times without consent. In his conversation with authorities, the restaurant owner described Jackson as a friend of his stepson and stated he had been asked to leave his establishment.
Despite the frightening picture prosecutors painted, they were forced to drop three more aggravated sex charges against Jackson following an affidavit from Vaughn’s attorney. The alleged victim refused to testify in the case, leaving only a misdemeanor charge for allegedly pushing a server.
A jury trial related to this battery count will take place on March 25; however, Jackson’s attorney believes everything will work out in his client’s favor. Per ETBrandan Davies voiced his confidence in winning the case in a statement, declaring:
“As I said from the beginning, Jackson did nothing wrong. We have full confidence that the truth of the matter will eventually be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining counts are disposed of.”
For Vaughn, his business closed last August following the negative attention generated by the sexual assault case. Many appeared to support Jackson as the restaurant was reportedly vandalized after the quarterback’s brother received his now-dismissed accusations.
