Paulina recently took part in the CBS reality TV show “Beyond the Edge,” which required the 57-year-old to sleep on the jungle floor in the rain and take part in other excruciating physical challenges in Panama. By the time she landed back in New York City, the former Sports Illustrated cover model admitted that she could barely walk.
“When I come home from here I can’t walk. I’ve lost like five pounds. I don’t need to lose weight,” said Paulina. “And they said, ‘OK, we want the book. Can you finish it before March 1st?’ I was like, I can’t walk and I can’t do anything else, so maybe I’ll sit down and write the book. And that’s what happened.”
Paulina recently opened up about the misunderstandings in her marriage following the death of her late husband Ric Ocasek on social media, explaining that they had separated and were working to finalize their divorce when The Cars frontman died.

“Before my husband died our marriage was broken and we had been separated for two years and we were going through a divorce and my invisibility to my husband coincided with my invisibility to the rest of the world,” she said, noting that she felt “totally ignored” and ” no career” anymore.
“I’m suddenly a divorced woman who has no career, no way to make money, and is completely ignored by the general population and I think that’s not good because I’m actually a lot cooler now than I was 20 years ago,” he said.
Paulina feels that she has more to offer the world than she did in her youth, adding, “I’m much smarter. I have more patience. I’m more intellectually curious. I am more generous. Everything about me is better. But I have wrinkles and that doesn’t make me ugly. I just don’t think that’s fair.”

Earlier this year, Paulina took aim at a plastic surgeon on social media who shared one of her selfies – without permission – and wrote in detail all the treatments he would recommend to improve her facial features and make her look younger.
Although she said she thought she “looked great” in the photo, the surgeon pointed out that “The annoying hole under my cheek could be removed with fillers, Botox for my forehead, wrinkles on the side of my mouth, and cords on my neck, and a whole lot of lasers to tighten and smooth and tighten everything.”
“This is what an older woman has to deal with in the public eye,” Paulina wrote. “I was told my face needed to be ‘corrected’. It somehow goes ‘wrong’ with aging. Is it any wonder that most of us who have the means will resort to some form of fixing what we are told is broken?”

“For the record, I have undergone laser treatment. And a plasma pen,” he explained. “I want to strike a balance between being proud of my age and still feeling beautiful at times. In my work, I am confronted with my own face in almost incredible detail – and even though I have accepted most of it, I still have a hard time accepting it all.”
In her interview with WWD, she admitted that she is a fan of laser facials and other non-invasive treatments that don’t drastically change her appearance. “I just want a little subtle help. I don’t want drastic things. I don’t want to erase my age,” he said. “I just want to look as good as I can given the limitations.”
