While most individuals are familiar with the aches and pains of aging, the 57-year-old supermodel recently participated in the CBS reality TV show “Beyond the Edge,” which required the 57-year-old to sleep on the forest floor in the rain and participate in another torturous physical challenge in Panama.

On Thursday, the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model shared a video set to The Beatles’ hit song, “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Paulina lay face down on a table, covered by a navy blue blanket, while undergoing deep tissue massage to help ease the pain caused by her hip arthritis.
“Well, there are some downsides to this business of getting old is this stupid hip arthritis,” she wrote in the caption. “It started with just a little bit on one side a few years ago, and now I have to really work on it every day to maintain mobility.”
“Doing a reality show in the jungle without food and sleep and crazy physical challenges doesn’t help,” he joked. “When I got back, I took a break from working out and writing a book, and when I was done, went back to doing what I could to sweet talk that cranky hip.”
“I do PT and try to do some days, at least to roll out and some stretches. I exercise twice a week and do tissue work twice a month,” he revealed. “In nyc, @mcpetrina has been my savior, and here in LA I just found Zumi @thesterkenburgeffect on my girlfriend’s record.”
“Deep tissue is not for the faint of heart. It hurts,” he admitted. “It digs into parts of your body that you didn’t know could dig into. But, after one session, I’ll have at least 5 days less pain and my workouts are more effective.”
“Yes, I’ve tried every supplement and every therapy possible sometimes it is what it is,” she wrote. “I know I’m lucky that I was able to get professional help, and I’m very grateful to my team for their expertise.”
She ended her post by saying, “Btw- hips DO lie” and closed it with the hashtags #betweenjloandbettywhite, #wonkyhips and #athritissucks.

Many fans showed support for Paulina’s battle with arthritis, with some sharing their own stories to show solidarity. “I think you are! I had that and waited for several years before a hip replacement. Best thing, I didn’t have to wait long. You know Christie Brinkley has them too?” asked a fan. Paulina replied, “Yes, he told me!” However, other users said that they waited four years for surgery and were still in pain two years after surgery.
“Ah, man, hip problem! Feel it too but you are absolutely right, PT is the only thing that gives me relief,” shared another user. “I also have a hard to use and strong but effective vibrating roller that scares our dogs but works well. Thanks, as always, for sharing, it really helps to know others are going through the same thing.” Paulina replied, “got that roller too!”

“Ugh…I had the same problem…thought it was sciatica, went to a chiropractor who did x-rays then was told I had degenerative arthritis starting in my right hip,” commented another user. “I try to exercise, walk, stretch…it’s not fun as I get older. I am 52 years old and had to slow down and reevaluate my training.” Paulina replied, “Listen to you.”
However, it seems that at least one follower provided an alternative that Paulina may not have tried. “I’m exactly the same age as you. Experiencing the same problem. I had stem cell injections in both hips. Pain free since then,” commented one user. In response to another user’s question, they explained, “look into the Regenexx clinic. I went to a doctor in MN. But they have locations all over the US. There are many shady practitioners hoping to make money. Regenexx is state of the art.” Paulina replied, “Good to know!”
Other followers recommend supplements, collagen, gentle yoga, and stretching to help relieve arthritis pain. While different things will work for different individuals, it’s best to consult your doctor before adding new medical treatments or supplements to your lifestyle plan!
