On Wednesday, November 1, the author of “No Filter: The Good, The Bad, and The Beautiful” reflected on the current events in Gaza with a candid selfie that featured her resting her head in her hands as she reflected on the current events. “Never Again maybe NOW,” he warned in black text written above the photo.

“Antisemitism seems to grow back like a poisonous mushroom after the rain,” he wrote in the caption of his lengthy Instagram post. I was born in a country where there were almost no Jews, because they were all exterminated by the Nazis. When I moved to Sweden, we were all taught about the Holocaust in school. A film screening that made many children cry.”

“The movie Sophie’s Choice came out, and everyone was sensitive to the plight of the Jews. But there are very few Jews in Sweden. Then, I moved to NYC,” he said. “Most of my friends are Jewish. Every once in a while, they’ll share snippets of hate directed at them- but I don’t believe it. I think they are too sensitive. Being Jewish is obviously cool.”

“Until I started dating the Jewish screenwriter (a famous and beautiful man) a few years ago, I started seeing confusing comments on my feed,” he continued. “Confounding, I say – because I’ve never seen a comment like this before. No one ever said ‘You’re still married to that Christian man?’ ‘You must like them Catholics.’ ‘The Protestant Whore’. I was suddenly witnessing antisemitism – first hand.”

“And when I, shocked by the comment, showed it to my Jewish friends, instead of the righteous indignation I expected, they shrugged their shoulders. ‘Yup, that was pretty much my whole life,'” he recalled. “That, THAT was the worst part for me. That they are used to it. That they expect it. That makes me uncomfortable. That my best friend, the person I thought I had everything in common with but for certain holiday celebrations, was actually carrying a burden I didn’t even realize. My naivety in assuming that because I didn’t experience it- it didn’t exist.”

“Like many of you keep pointing out- I just have to keep my mouth shut when talking about the politics of something I don’t know everything about,” he admitted. “So- this is not a post about my political views. Saying that I support the Jews, that I have my Jewish friends, that I condemn antisemitism – has nothing to do with government and politics.

And it in no way means that I also do not care about the plight of innocent Palestinians and also condemn – and always have – Islamophobia,” he concluded. “All my donations are now channeled to charities whose priority is the people of Gaza.”

Fans Share Support For Paulina After Her Insightful Statement

Many fans thanked Paulina for speaking out on the topic, even though her comments were divisive. “Thank you. Not many are brave enough to stand up for Israel these days,” commented one fan. “The Palestinians are not their government, and they need help – just like the Jews are not Israel’s government and need to be defended,” replied Paulina, although she accepted response to that comment too.

“You are a classy and intelligent woman. Always open, curious, and willing to learn. I am stunned, saddened, and angry at all the venomous hatred as you say is rearing its ugly head in this world. No matter what ridiculous comments you get, keep speaking your exact truth,” wrote another follower, to which Paulina responded with a single red heart emoji.

This is not the first time Paulina has spoken about the incident. On October 10, he took to Instagram to remind his followers that “silence is not an option” in the wake of Hamas’ attacks on Israel.
