In 1995, at the age of sixteen, Pavitra made her acting debut with the Kannada film Mister Abhishek.
In 1997, she played the role of Mohini, an antagonist in the Kannada film Ulta Palta. In 2003, Pavitra made her Telugu debut with the film Dongodu.
In 2006, she rose to fame with the Kannada film Naayi Neralu in which she played the role of Venkatalakshmi.
In 2013, Pavitra made her Tamil debut with the film Gouravam.
In 2015, she received positive response for her performance in the Telugu film Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju as Parvathi. File a complaint against the stalker
In July 2022, Pavitra had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime, Economic Offenses and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station against several media house representatives for stalking her at VV Puram police station in Mysore, Karnataka. In her complaint, she alleged that someone created a fake Facebook account under her name where some offensive and defamatory content was posted and false rumors were spread, which disturbed her mentally and emotionally.
Attacked by Naresh Babu’s ex-wife, Ramya Raghupathi
In July 2022, Pavitra, and her rumored boyfriend Naresh were attacked by his ex-wife Ramya Raghupathi, after she found them together at a hotel in Mysore. As Naresh and Pavitra come out of the hotel, Ramya abuses them and tries to attack them with her slipper followed by Pavitra and Naresh being given police protection to get out of the hotel safely. Naresh, while addressing the media, revealed that after he sent him a divorce notice, Ramya, along with her rumored boyfriend, Rakesh Reddy tried to defame and blackmail him. In an interview, Pavitra spoke about the harassment and guilt she faced after Ramya’s alleged behavior outside the hotel and said,
I am not new to Telugu people or the industry. I don’t need to explain my relationship with Naresh. To slander me because of his interest is something very annoying. I feel like why is this happening to me. He is making me a victim and this is not right. He has to settle scores in the family.”
Also, Ramya, while addressing reporters, revealed her husband’s affair with Pavitra and said,
They claim that they are best friends but stay together in single rooms all night. I am here raising concerns about my son’s future and protecting his interests. I come from a proper Hindu family and I do not like to be separated from my husband.”

While completing her studies, Pavitra aspired to appear for the Civil Services Examination (CSE), but due to her family’s deteriorating financial condition, she decided to help her mother by taking care of the expenses. Despite having a film background, Pavitra hesitated to pursue her career as an actress. After completing her studies, Pavitra appeared for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) but failed in her first attempt.
