Career
Peter Worrell began playing professional ice hockey in 1997 and retired in 2006. Prior to becoming a professional ice hockey player, he played for the Hull Olympiques and was a member of two QMJHL championship teams and the 1997 Memorial Cup champion. After being drafted by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round of the Draft Entering the NHL in 1995, he began playing professionally. He appeared in 19 total games for the Panthers, racked up 153 PIM, and didn’t score a single point. Worrell scored his first goal on February 8, 1999, against St. Louis Blues.
He was traded to the Colorado Avalanche on July 18, 2003. Due to his knee injury, he missed the first 27 games of his career. On December 11, 2003, he made his debut with the Colorado Avalanche. He played about 49 games for the Avalanche, scoring three goals and contributing one assist, which was the lowest point total in NHL history.
At the end of the 2004-05 NHL season, Worrell considered retiring, but he eventually decided to sign a contract with the Los Angeles Rangers. He was named head coach of Florida Atlantic University’s club hockey team on May 18, 2010. He also coaches the varsity ice hockey team at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, Florida.
