Torngat was formed in 2001 by Pietro Amato, pianist Mathieu Charbonneau, and drummer Julien Poissant. Over the years, the group also worked on their longest running musical project. Before creating Torngat, he was a member of the Alien8 label. He then appeared with the Bell Orchester at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2006. He also promoted the song Color Tape Recordings with a tour of Europe in March and a tour of the United States in May. Later he marketed La Rouge records throughout eastern Canada with his band Torngat. Torngat released an album called You Could Be in 2007.
