Blake Harrison, former member of Pig Destroyer, has reportedly died aged 48.
Although he is mostly known for his work with the American grindcore band, of which he was a part from 2006 to 2022, Harrison is also recognized for his contributions to Tentacles of God, Triac, Zealot RIP, Daybreak, and Hatebeak.
Since news of his death was announced, fans and industry friends have sent tributes in recognition of the musician’s legacy.
Blake Harrison Dies At Age 48
News of Harrison’s death was confirmed by Decibel Magazine, a publication for which he worked as a contributor to the “For Those Near Me” column. He reportedly suffered heart failure during a minor surgery which led to his death.
The death of the iconic artist has shocked the metal music community, with many of his friends and industry peers pouring tributes in Harrison’s memory.

He was a fixture in the scene when we cut our teeth as a young band in Baltimore. Blake is always fun to hang out with and talk to and if it wasn’t for the chance to meet him we wouldn’t be where we are as a band.”
They continued: “If it wasn’t for his passion and belief in us as a band, we would never have released our first record on the label or done any of the crazy things— that followed. Blake and Pig Destroyer took us under their wing and often stuck us on sick bills giving us a massive boost when we needed it. We can’t thank Blake enough for being such a good, funny and generous man and we will miss him so much.”
Mike Schleibaum from The Darkest Hour shared: “Blake Harrison, I will miss you so much, my heart and soul are in shock. Much love to Lindsey Turnbullet – just frozen in disbelief, her spirit will ride with us no doubt. It will take time to process this.”

On his social page, fans of the musician paid tribute to him with sincere messages about his loss.
One wrote, “A great human being and a brilliant musician. He lives forever in love and respect.”
Another said, “D—this sucks. I got to meet him on a 3-day mini-tour that my group of friends did with Triac and Pig Destroyer. He’s so cool.”
“F—, I hate this. Blake is my favorite friend to meet anywhere in the world. I will miss this man,” wrote a third individual.
Another sighed, “Oh no. What a loss. One of the nicest men I’ve ever met. [He] has been kind to me and supportive of my work since meeting him at his Dawn. You will be missed, my friend.”
Another commented, “So sad about his passing, condolences to his family, friends and fans of his work.”
Blake Harrison Remembered As ‘Genius’ And ‘Hilarious Creative Force’
In another heartfelt and personal tribute to Harrison, owner of Reptilian Records, Christoper Xavier Donovan, spoke about the legacy and virtues of the late singer. During his career, Harrison worked with Reptilian Records and was featured on several of their releases.
Donovan said in a statement that Harrison was a “genius,” a “true friend,” and always enjoyed working with his record label.
“It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to one of my favorites, Blake Harrison, a true friend and creative comedic genius,” Donovan began, per MetalSucks. “Blake has always been proud of how many times he has appeared in Reptilian releases, having been a member of Daybreak, Triac, and the brains behind Hatebeak, before touring many countries on Pig Destroyer.”
He continued: “We spent years watching B-movies, discussing Zodiac Killers, laughing together, and having full conversations consisting of Longmont Potion Castle quotes. We’ve kept in touch since I moved south and he even visited a few times…”
Concluding his emotional tribute, Donovan said, “He was an original, a character, a funny creative force, and a loyal and trustworthy friend. This is a loss to us all, he will be missed and will live on in our hearts, minds, and record collections many.”
