Before performing at the 2022 American Music Awards, Pink, known for her hits “So What” and “Get the Party Started,” opened up about the late Olivia Newton-John.

“She’s an icon,” Pink tells PEOPLE. “He is a kind person and he is very supportive of young artists and he is present and [had] song for days. He’s just he’s so unique, but you can’t think of anyone else like him.

“I hope I did it justice,” he added when discussing his honor.
