Pony express: Hilarious photos show horse trying to board bus

Maybe he thought it was the Pony Express.

A funny picture shows a pony trying to board a British bus.

The gray mount was recently spotted with its head and forelegs on the Number 57 Stagecoach bus in Brixington, Exmouth, pictures provided to show Devon Live.

“As you can imagine our driver was quite surprised to see a horse trying to board the bus,” a company representative told the outlet.

“The driver was pulling in to pick up a passenger, when someone was walking past the bus on a pony and he decided to ride the bus on his own accord.

“The pony is quite adamant that it wants to take advantage of our current £2 fare offer,” the representative quipped, equivalent to about $2.50.

“We’re in discussions about what to charge the horse if he tries to get on board again,” the representative joked, adding: “A fee of several dollars has been suggested.”

While the strange spectacle was likely to be the highlight of the day for those who saw it, it seems the pony wasn’t after a ride — but just wanted to say “Hay.”

“One woman said he just put his head down to say hello and then they got out and continued down the road,” a distraught witness told Devon Live.

Brixington ponies aren’t the only animals looking to take advantage of more horsepower recently: A man in Nebraska was pulled over this week for transporting a large Watsubi bull in the passenger seat of his car.

“The officer chose to write him a warning and ask him to take the animal home and leave town,” local police said of the a-moo-sing incident.
