About Plagiarism

Preeti has strong opinions, regarding plagiarism when her fellow writer Chetan Bhagat is accused of stealing other people’s work. He was seen saying that the easiest thing to do is to accuse people of plagiarism, but coincidences are not so rare in the world of writers. He supports Bhagat by saying that it is not strange for the plots to match as he himself was working on a book when he came across the work of an Irish writer, almost identical to his, after reading a synopsis that he knew. He had to scrape the entire hard work of 25000 words. The allegations made against Bhagat came from Anvita Bajpai who claimed that she had gifted him, her book in Banglore litfest 2014. Bhagat’s book was based on one of his short stories. He further supported Chetan Bhagat by saying that writers hardly have time to read the work presented to them until it becomes a close friend or a dear friend. To him this seemed very wrong but as usual he said, the plots very often matched. after admitting that he could not read the book that was given to him, the author often left it in the hotel room. He signed off saying justice should be done and he agreed with his fellow author Tuhin Sinha who said,
