Talk about a company that wants their members to work hard for them — literally.
A pilates studio called Solidcore is in the spotlight on social media after revealing they are encouraging members to brand themselves with their logo tattoos to celebrate their 10-year anniversary, according to several posts released by content creators.
But there’s a bonus for those who choose to be charged: a $100 reward in class credits, the terms and conditions are read in Solidcore’s email sent to all existing members.
“Be a part of our community forever with a Solidcore tattoo,” reads the whimsical email.
“To verify your purchase, we request a photo of you with your tattoo, along with proof of your purchase…” another part of the email read.
Even more strangely, there is a specific placement on the body where the company wants the body art to be shown, while also emphasizing the “maximum recommended size” of the tattoo at 3×3 size.
“We encourage you to choose a location that keeps the photo interesting and avoid any areas that might be too cheeky,” the email said.
Members must also get their tattoo by a certain deadline — between Nov. 1 and Nov. 14.
Social media users slammed the high-end pilates studio chain, accusing the company of being cult-like for promotions that don’t compensate members with real money.

“What’s in this black mirror? What is this cult [cult] s–t? Imagine if you got a tattoo for the YMCA, like, that’s so weird,” said one content creator in a TikTok video that has been viewed more than 49,000 times.
“For their tenth anniversary, if you get one of these four Solidcore tattoos, they’ll pay you back but not in cash, in $100 worth of Solidcore credit,” he added sarcastically, showing viewers the email.
A promotional email then informs participants that they have up to four “approved tattoos” to choose from.
Solidcore confirmed my suspicions that they do run a fitness cult to encourage their logo tattooers to *check note* a hundred dollar credit.

Another content creator, who goes by the name Eli Rallo on TikTok, warned people in a video not to get the tattoo, while also sharing his not-so-good experience when he went to a Solidcore location.
“This is scary, don’t get a tattoo. Don’t get a tattoo for a two and a half pilates class, it’s not worth it. This is pretty crazy,” ” he began.
“I think the vibe there is terrible every time. I was, like, for $40, the vibe is so bad,” he continued. “I always feel that if I make modifications [exercises] I failed the class based on the way they spoke.”

Solidcore is a full-body strengthening exercise that engages muscles in slower movements to activate slow-twitch muscle fibers, the website explains.
The popular pilates club was founded in Washington, DC by American entrepreneur Anne Mahlum in 2013, with locations across the country offering classes from $30 to $45.
Other platforms such as Reddit also slammed the promotion, with users making fun of anyone who chooses to get a tattoo.
“They’re insane,” said one user. “The cost of getting a tattoo alone is probably more than paying off the credit lmao.”
“If I get a permanent tattoo of their logo, I want free classes as long as it’s on my body,” joked another Reddit responder.
