Prince Andrew Is Refusing To Move Out Of Royal Lodge For Prince William And Family

Prince Andrew has openly refused to leave his Royal Household after being kicked out by King Charles III. The disgraced prince reportedly plans to honor the 55 years left on his lease but fears his utilities will be turned off.

King Charles had announced that Andrew was to move to Frogmore Cottage and had previously cut his allowance. The Royal Lodge, previously occupied by the Queen Mother, has now been assigned to Prince William, but his uncle Andrew is keen to stay on.

The Duke of York first moved into the property after the Queen Mother died and now lives there with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. There is pressure for Andrew and Charles to have a physical meeting about his deportation.

A source close to Prince Andrew recently told Telegraph that he has “no plans” to vacate the Royal Lodge for Prince William and his family. His rejection comes after King Charles issued an eviction notice to leave the lodge, which has been Andrew’s home for more than 20 years.

The source claims that Andrew plans to finish the 75-year lease on the £30million property, which he signed in 2003. He has around 55 years left to live at Royal Lodge, where he lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

However, the King has ordered Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Earlier this year, Charles cut his younger brother’s allowance by £249,000, which meant he could not meet the running costs of the mansion.

On Sunday, a friend told Daily Mail that Andrew was sad about being kicked out and “refused to budge.” The Royal Lodge has now been allocated for Prince William, his wife, Kate, and their three children. Andrew is reported to be in very low spirits and is currently recluse at home.

The friend said, “He is very fragile. He refuses to see anyone. This has been his family home for the past 20 years. Is it right to kick him out?” They explained that Andrew was worried that with the Coronation done, the royal family would do anything to get him to move out, including turning off utilities.

The Royal Lodge was occupied by the late Queen Mother until her death in 2002. Andrew then moved into the property after his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, gave it to him.

Andrew and Ferguson’s daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, regularly visit their parents at the lodge. Another friend told Daily Mail, “Eugenie is heavily pregnant, and her parents are expecting a new grandchild there this summer. Don’t forget that Sarah has been the glue that holds the family together through this nightmare.”

An earlier eviction notice from the Palace stated that Andrew and Ferguson must move out by September, but it is now understood that such a tight deadline is unrealistic. Negotiations over the property, which began when Queen Elizabeth was still alive, are ongoing.

Friends Want Prince Andrew and King Charles to Have a Physical Meeting

Andrew’s friends also hinted that the Prince might agree to a compromise if King Charles “does a good thing” by arranging a face-to-face meeting. Andrew was reportedly upset that he only discussed the issue with Royal officials instead of his brother directly.

A friend said, per Daily Mail, “If Charles wants Andrew to play ball and help the family through this difficult time, isn’t that a better way for them to do it? Why not do a good thing, sit down and talk? If they need a home for William, maybe Andrew should be told. Perhaps William should invite his uncle over for tea and explain.”

They further stated that it would not be difficult for Charles to ask Andrew to leave the property directly to “help his nephew and the future of the monarchy?” And then agree on a schedule for him to move. The royal insider said, “The real person is at the center of all this. He just lost his mother. Who, after that, wants to be chased away by his brother?”
