According to Daily Mail, Sussex’s controversial Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” has been nominated for a Hollywood Critics Award in the Best Streaming Non-Fiction category.
It comes after the blockbuster show, directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Liz Garbus, was announced on the streaming platform in two parts in December 2022.
The first three episodes were released to viewers, followed by three more episodes the following week.
Upon its release, “Harry & Meghan” became the streaming platform’s biggest documentary debut, recording 81.55 million hours of viewing worldwide just four days after its release.
It’s also Netflix’s second highest-grossing documentary, with the hit film “The Tinder Swindler” taking the top spot.
Now, it is competing for the Critics Award against “Prehistoric Planet 2,” “Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss,” “Rennervations,” “The 1619 Project” and “The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.”
‘Harry & Meghan’ Recognized for Emmy Nominations

Getting a Hollywood Critics Award nomination isn’t the only accolade expected for “Harry and Meghan.” Recent reports have hinted that the documentary may be in the running for a nomination for the prestigious Emmy Award in the category of Documentary or Non-Fiction series.
A source told Express“There’s no smoke without fire and for me, I think there’s a good chance that there’s a win and there’s a definite chance that they’ll be nominated because it will give a lot of press attention to it for the Emmy Awards.”
The insider went on to explain that “Harry & Meghan’s” strong viewing figures deserved a nomination after Netflix invested heavily in its production.
The source continued, “I’ve looked at all possible categories and it’s the most high-profile documentary series in that category.”
What Is ‘Harry & Meghan’ About?

“Harry & Meghan” provides a never-before-seen look at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship story, from the couple’s introduction in 2016 through mutual friends on Snapchat to their surprise decision to step down from the royal family in 2020.
Also included in the show are some bombshells about the interactions between the two royals, hinting at a very strained relationship between the two parties.
“It’s an incredible love story set against the backdrop of huge stakes and their journey is a historic event that will be scrutinized for a long time to come,” as Garbus explained, per Cosmopolitan.
The controversial documentary is borne out of Netflix’s $100 million deal with Harry and Meghan, signed in 2020 in partnership with the couple’s Archewell Productions.
The deal is also expected to spawn another show titled “Heart of Invictus,” which will reportedly follow the lives of physically challenged service members who compete in the Invictus Games.
Netflix Will Continue Working With Prince Harry & Meghan Markle

Last month, Netflix revealed that they were interested in continuing their working relationship with Meghan and her husband, Harry.
“We value our partnership with Archewell Productions…. we will continue to work together on a number of projects, including the upcoming documentary series Heart of Invictus,” said a spokesperson for the streaming giant. People magazine.
The statement came after the pair ended their deal with music streaming platform Spotify before their deal ended. The deal resulted in 13 hours of content, most of which will be focused on Meghan’s podcast series, “Archetypes.”
As for why the deal ended, sources speculated that it was because the podcast wasn’t living up to its potential.
“Even though ‘Archetypes’ did well and won a few awards, when you do a deal like this, to have only one series over that period is not good,” the source said, per Page Six.
