Prince Harry Confirmed To Attend King Charles’ Coronation But Not Meghan Markle

After weeks of drama, Prince Harry has stepped forward to mend his relationship with the royal family in a big gesture.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been embroiled in a controversial dispute with the British monarchy following their move to the US. However, the situation between the two parties seems to be better than before.

The second child of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, has confirmed her presence at her father’s upcoming coronation. However, the ginger-haired Prince will be attending the royal event without his beloved wife.

As shared by PEOPLE, the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 6 while the Duchess remains at home with the couple’s two children. Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Harry’s participation in the coronation ceremony on Wednesday, April 12.

“Buckingham Palace is delighted to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 6 May. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet,” they announced in a statement.

A fellow “Spare” author shared similar sentiments to the news outlet. Insiders claim the 38-year-old wanted to “support his father at this important time in his life.” However, the father of two will not be attending all the coronation events.

The much-anticipated ceremony will feature three days of activities, including a coronation event, a concert at Windsor Castle, and a volunteer day. The producer of “The Me You Can’t See” is expected to only attend the coronation and no other events.

Although his presence has been confirmed, it is not yet known whether the Duke of Sussex will take part in the tradition of joining King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the coronation ceremony.

As for the Duchess’s absence from the coronation, it was revealed that the former Hollywood sensation will be staying back at the couple’s California home. As May 6 marks Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, Meghan will spend the weekend celebrating her son’s big day with her daughter Princess Lilibet.

Last month, the couple’s participation in the coronation ceremony was uncertain following the confirmation of their invitation. According to The Blast, the dynamic couple officially received an invitation to the coronation via email from the King’s office.

Surprisingly, the Sussexes’ invitation to the event came after their eviction notice from Frogmore Cottage. Both were asked to leave their UK home by King Charles III, a decision speculated to be due to the release of Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

In the book, the Duke reveals shocking details about his relationship with his father and brother, Prince William. Additionally, he made several comments about his stepmother, Queen Camilla. This statement allegedly forced the King to demand retribution by taking Frogmore Cottage.

The Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s Children Are Not Given a Role in Their Grandfather’s Coronation

Prior to confirming Prince Harry’s attendance at the coronation, reports surfaced that he and Meghan’s children were not invited to their grandfather’s coronation. Unlike their cousins, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet did not reserve a place in the royal procession.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are slated to play an important role in the upcoming event. The trio will reportedly star in the Coronation procession at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

Excluding the family’s youngest child, Louis, the older siblings previously accompanied their parents during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral procession in 2022. As with this event, the children will join Prince William and Kate for the procession out of the Abbey.

According to leaked training plans, the Welsh group carriage will be behind King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Gold State Coach. Behind them will come other royal carriages, including the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra are also expected to be part of the parade.

At the time of this announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not confirmed their attendance. However, sources claim that royal staff are prepared to receive the couple and their two children should they choose to attend the coronation.
