Prince Harry may receive a “text or email” from his brother, Prince William, on his birthday — but that’s all he’ll get, according to King Charles’ former butler.
Grant Harrold, who worked for the monarch for seven years when he was Prince of Wales, claimed William may reach out to his estranged brother “as an olive branch” when he turns 39 on September 15.
But the heir to the throne is unlikely to do more than that because “a breach has occurred” between the once close sons of King Charles III.
“If they’re chatting on WhatsApp, he might get a text, or he might get an email,” Harrold said. “I hope they can reach out. I think William will pick up the phone to wish him a happy birthday.”
“But you never know. We may never know. It will be an opportunity for his dad to reach out and offer an olive branch,” he told Slingo, adding that it was “a good time for them to check in.”
“I hope Harry will do the same for them on their birthdays,” she added.

“I think the damage is done now and I think at the moment, I don’t see it changing dramatically.”
While Harry’s plans for the big day are unknown, Harrold expects it will be “very different to how it would be celebrated if he were a working royal.”
As for the public birthday honours, the former royal butler thinks it’s something difficult to anticipate.

“Well, it’s just Meghan’s birthday and it’s not mentioned by the royal family at all,” he said, referring to the royal family’s radio silence on Meghan’s 42nd birthday on August 4.
“Quite strange. Even though they’re not royals anymore, they’ll be constantly mentioned on social media and suddenly it stops. It might be similar for Harry’s birthday too.”
Elsewhere, Harrold believes that Harry will definitely “feel sad” — especially with the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death approaching.
“Family will be at the forefront of Harry’s mind,” Harrold said, adding that “there will be a part of him thinking about everything that has happened” over the past year.
“Family has always been a big thing to Harry. William and Kate are also at Balmoral with Charles now, and Harry used to go there every summer. So that will play a big role in what he thinks. He will miss that,” he added.
