Prince Harry & Meghan Can Still Use HRH Titles Despite Deletion From Royal Website

The HRH title is still valid when facing Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be able to use the royal honorific if they wish even though it is no longer used on the Buckingham Palace website.

Speculation about the couple’s relationship with the British Royal family became a trending topic in 2020 when the couple gave up their status as working royals and moved to the US with their children.

Although they have been rumored to be of bad blood, there seems to be hope for a future without any perceived strife. King Charles III reportedly has no plans to strip his second son and son-in-law of their royal titles.

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s HRH Title Remains Applicable to Non-Working Royal Family

In a fiery DailyMail piece, reporter Ephraim Hardcastle discusses the use of the HRH title for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. According to him, the couple can continue to use the royal award even if the Buckingham Palace website does not use it.

In 2020, the palace released a statement about Prince Harry and Meghan’s lack of HRH titles. “The Sussexes will no longer use their HRH titles as they are no longer members of the Royal Family,” their message read.

However, Hardcastle dismissed their claims as “nonsense.” According to the columnist, “Letters Patent conferring the honor of HRH have never been revoked,” thus allowing the Sussexes to hold and use their HRH titles if they wish.

Regarding the title being revoked by a non-working royal, the journalist pointed out that this is false as some non-working royals continue to use their HRH titles. These include Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie.

King Charles III appears to be in the couple’s corner regarding their royal honours, as Hardcastle claims the king has no intention of formally amending the rules. These regulations have been in place for decades as implemented by the late King George V in 1917.

While the former heir to the throne will not strip the Sussexes of their HRH title, Charles may not bestow a new title on the non-working couple. A few weeks earlier, the British monarch appointed new military positions to nine working members of the royal family.

The palace announcement read: “Following the Proclamation of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is pleased to announce further military appointments for working Members of the Royal Family. The new appointments will continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family in His Majesty’s reign.”

Topping the list is the King’s first child, William, Prince of Wales. The 41-year-old accepted the post of Colonel-in-Chief, The Mercian Regiment; Colonel-in-Chief, Army Air Corps; and Royal Air Force (RAF) Honorary Air Commodore of the Valley.

The heir’s wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been honored with Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Fleet, Colonel-in-Chief of the Queen’s 1st Dragoon Guards, and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the Royal Air Force Coningsby.

The latter title holds special meaning for the mother of three as one of her grandfathers, Peter Middleton, served in the Royal Air Force. In her husband’s case, his Royal Air Force title is a tribute to his days as a Search and Rescue pilot in the RAF Valley in Wales from 2010–2013.

‘Harry & Meghan’ Star Moves Out Of Frogmore Cottage Six Months After Eviction Notice

Ahead of their HRH title drama, the Sussexes appeared to be at loggerheads with the King over their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage. Charles coincidentally ordered the couple to evict the property after Harry released his bombshell memoir, “Spare.”

Although they live in the US, the couple’s former home makes it easy for them to travel to the UK. The Duke of Sussex was last spotted at the property while attending his hacking trial. However, sources confirmed the pair had officially packed their bags and moved out of Frogmore Cottage in June, six months after their eviction notices.

The last of their belongings were delivered to their home in California, and the lovebirds returned the keys to the estate. Their farewell to the estate may be bittersweet as the house was a gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II.

For the new owners of Frogmore Cottage, a specific resident has yet to be chosen. However, sources claim King Charles kicked out Prince Harry and Meghan to replace them with his disgraced younger brother, Prince Andrew.
