Prince Harry to travel to UK following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis

Prince Harry will soon travel to the UK to see King Charles III following his cancer diagnosis on Monday.

The Duke spoke to his father about the diagnosis and plans to visit Her Majesty in the coming days, sources close to Harry said.

The shocking diagnosis, which came less than 15 months after the 75-year-old King ascended the throne, was revealed in a statement by Buckingham Palace on Monday afternoon.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” the palace said in a statement. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

“His Majesty has today started a periodic treatment schedule, during which he was advised by doctors to postpone the tasks facing the public.

“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to carry out government affairs and official paperwork as usual,” added the palace.

Officials did not say what form of cancer Charles was diagnosed with but Buckingham Palace said it was not prostate cancer, according to the BBC.

“The King thanked his medical team for their quick intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure,” the statement from the palace continued.

Charles had been in hospital just a week before receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate.

“He remains completely positive about his treatment and hopes to return to full public duty as soon as possible.

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to avoid speculation and in the hope that it will help the understanding of people around the world who are affected by cancer.”

Kensington Palace did not say when Charles is expected to return to his royal duties, as all his public engagements have been temporarily halted.

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in the US, and the second leading cause of cancer death among adult men, according to the National Cancer Institute.

The disease also affects men in the UK, with more than a third of new cases appearing in people older than 75, according to the National Health Service.

The NHS said there had been an increase in inquiries about prostate health following Charles’ treatment last week.
