Under the law, an admission of drug use can usually result in the denial of a person’s entry into the United States. This is why conservative think tanks are using US Freedom of Information (FOI) laws to find out if Duke was allowed into the country illegally.
While their request for the Briton’s visa application is still pending, sources close to the royals have assured the 38-year-old royal’s status in the US is secure. Per the Daily Mail, this whistleblower asserted that Prince Harry lied to immigration officials about his drug history.
In his memoirs, the Duke of Sussex admitted that he had previously used marijuana, cocaine, and magic mushrooms. Based on these revelations, the Heritage Foundation declared that the American taxpayer deserves to know if the king answered honestly ‘Are you or have you ever been a drug abuser or addict?’ questions during his visa application.
In his FOI case, Samuel Dewey, a lawyer for the think tank, explained that admitting to drug use does not automatically ban someone from the US. However, they wanted to know if Prince Harry received special treatment.
“There is a waiver process, and many people get waivers on a case-by-case basis,” the lawyer said. “If Prince Harry is granted a waiver, who authorized it? Are proper protocols followed? It’s something Americans should know about.”
Dewey noted that the FOI case was not a personal attack on the ex-militant but to prove his residency in California was not of political interest. A representative of the Heritage Foundation said:
“There is no suggestion Prince Harry did anything wrong and, if he is granted a waiver, he may not be aware of any political strings that may have been pulled, if indeed they are.”

Former Federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani believes that admitting drug use should lead to inadmissibility under the law, stating that there is no exception for “regal and recreational use.”
On the other hand, lawyer James Leonard disagreed, saying that Duke’s visa cannot be revoked. According to a legal representative, Harry has no “criminal charges related to drugs or alcohol,” and is also not a “regular drug user.”
During an online interview with trauma expert Gabor Maté, Harry admitted to only ever using cocaine in his teens. However, the 38-year-old’s recreational weed use continued into adulthood.
