A California elementary school principal has been placed on leave for conducting an unauthorized drill in which he allegedly pretended to shoot students — even saying seven children were “killed,” according to a report.
Nina Denson, principal of Washington Elementary School in San Gabriel, conducted an unhinged active shooter lockdown drill Wednesday, KTLA reported.
“He kept walking around campus and pretending to shoot people he saw using finger motions and banging on windows,” parent Jennifer Chavez told the outlet.
“From what I heard, he said to one of the students, ‘Boom! You’re dead!’” he said.
Some of the children who witnessed the horrific incident were reportedly as young as 4 years old.
“Oh, he’s really upset,” Chavez said of the second-grader. “The shocking, shocking thing he said as a 6-year-old was, ‘I’m so glad none of my friends died.'”
Employees said Denson even announced that seven students were “killed” in a mock exercise.

“Can you imagine the trauma this child must be going through just thinking, ‘Oh my God, my friend got killed’ or ‘I got shot and told I’m dead,'” another parent, Anna Bustamante, told KTLA.
“At this young age of kids, it’s really upsetting,” he added.
County Superintendent Jim Symonds said the practice was not authorized.
Denson allegedly announced that seven children had been “killed” during the mock attack. KTLA parents are calling for him to be removed from his position. KTLA
“This type of training where scenarios are carried out is not approved by the district nor part of our district protocol,” he told the outlet.
The district reportedly told parents in an email: “The conduct of the exercise does not appear to be consistent with District protocol or best practices.”
It launched an investigation and a veteran teacher took over as interim principal, but some parents called for Denson’s ouster.

“I don’t want him back here at all,” Chavez told KTLA. “He doesn’t have the trust of the community.
Officials told the outlet that counselors are available for students and employees who may have experienced trauma.
