The actress discussed the criticism she received as a public figure at the recent South by Southwest film festival event. Chopra, 40, told the host that she is ashamed of her body size, and that she and loved ones have been the subject of mean words in the past, admitting that it hurt to hear that.

“I’ve been told a lot of things that are hard to hear,” he shared, per Many people. “In my job, the pressure is so strong that you can’t show a chink in your armor.”

Chopra continued, “someone told me yesterday that I’m not sample size… I was hurt, and I talked about it with my family, and I cried to my husband and my team, and I felt really bad about the fact that I’m not sample size , and that’s a problem, apparently, and most of us don’t, and the sample size is size 2.”

The “Quantico” actor said that his family and loved ones sometimes don’t escape the barrage of insults and backlash, noting that people seem to forget he’s human.

“After a few minutes of chatting, the director/producer told me to stand up and spin for him. I did,” he wrote.

She added, “He stared at me long and hard, judged me, and then suggested I get a breast job, fix my jawline, and add a little more cushion to my butt. If I want to be an actress, he said, I need to ‘fix’ my proportions, and he knew a great doctor in LA who could send me. My manager at the time voiced his agreement with that assessment.”

“I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for 22 years now, and I’ve done about 70-plus features and two TV shows,” he explained. “When I did Citadel, it was the first time in my career that I paid the same as my male co-star—the first time in 22 years.”

She continued, “And I wondered, ‘Is that because there are so few female decision-makers in Hollywood?’ I wonder if it would be a different conversation if a woman wasn’t at the helm of the decision.”
