Pro-Palestinian professor questioned by police at the scene of Israeli activist Paul Kessler’s death: video

A pro-Palestinian college professor was questioned by police at the scene of Paul Kessler’s death in Thousand Oaks, Calif., The Post can reveal.

Moorpark college professor Loay Alnaji, 50, was filmed talking to a female officer, who can be seen taking a picture of her hand in a video provided to The Post by Jewish Life Television.

“So you’re trying to hit the phone,” the deputy can be heard asking Alnaji in the clip, to which he nods yes.

A bearded Alnaji sat on the side of the road next to a blood-stained pavement, while people rushed to treat Paul Kessler, 69, who fell and hit the back of his head following clashes between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protesters.

Kessler, who had flown the Israeli flag in support of the country, died less than 24 hours after suffering his injuries and the death was ruled a homicide.

Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff said they are still investigating the incident and have received “conflicting statements” about what caused Kessler to fall from two different parties present, according to the LA Times.

Fryhoff said they are investigating the suspect, identified only as a 50-year-old man from Moorpark, who Fryhoff said has been cooperating with investigators. There are no charges at this time.

Although Alnaji was described at the scene and questioned, he has not been named by police and it is not clear if he is the same person being investigated.

Alnaji is a professor of computer science at Moorpark College, but as of Wednesday the college has lowered its faculty profile.

On his Facebook and YouTube pages, Alnaji posted messages praising the Palestinians and videos.

In a recent post, the professor wrote, “O Allah, release the captivity of Al-Aqsa Mosque … Sooner than later …. Oh God, don’t stop us from praying in it before we die.

“Oh God, give victory to Your weak servants in Palestine, and everywhere… Oh God, bind their hearts with bonds of patience and faith.”

He also previously reposted a video of activist Shahid King Bolsen comparing the terrorist group Hamas to civil rights leaders.

“If someone asked me to condemn Hamas, I would say, what’s the rush? Let history decide,” King said in the video.

“You cursed Nelson Mandela until you didn’t, until he was a hero. You curse Mahatma Gandhi until you don’t.

Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff said they are still investigating the incident and have received “conflicting statements.”

“Let’s wait and see because you might change your mind about this too.”

Meanwhile, Rabbi Ari Averbach told The Post Kessler was a pilot but he had retired from medicine.

“His family wants him to be remembered because he was a big part of her life, a father and a husband,” Averbach said. “He didn’t go from protest to protest trying to make his voice heard.

“He is not a person who likes to brag and a person who likes to insult people. He’s caught up in the chaos and the family is just trying to cope with their grief.”
