Kenya Barris is highly sought after in Hollywood by more than just fans. His sister, Collete Barris, is also looking for him through a service processor.

The writer was out at the premiere of his latest film, You are a Person celebrating the Netflix comedy, after an event held at the Regency Country Theater in Westwood, Calif., Kenya was posing for photographers and chatting with reporters when she noticed a photographer was getting uncomfortably close to her.
Pap finally approached Black-ish creator, slapped him with a paper, and supposedly told him he was just being served. Unfortunately, all the stars of the film were on the red carpet as well.
It’s unclear if Nia Long, Lauren London, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny, and Eddie Murphy have seen all the drama go down, but really, it’s a red carpet, there’s not much to hide.
Kenya Barris Accused of Trespassing

The famous director’s sister is suing her brother for alleged breach of contract. The lawsuit was filed stemming from a February 2021 contract signed by the two. “The parties agree ‘not to utter any disparaging words about each other or about any matter leading to this Agreement.'”
The document further details that “On or about June 2022, [Kenya] stating to third parties that (1) Plaintiff is a ’70-year-old talentless hack’ and (2) Plaintiff has not earned ‘the right to be the creator of the show’ but instead ‘wants to go to the front of the line.’”
Collete insists that her brother has been badmouthing her around town and that while LA is a big place, it’s actually very small. Everyone knows everyone. The lawsuit also alleges that he did not give her a fair chance.
“Kenya’s breach of contract denied Colette the benefit of their offer and was a substantial factor in her injury.”
Kenya’s Barris Sibling Rivalry Continues

The siblings have had bad blood for a long time and the legal action is not the first time they have fought each other. In 2020, Kenya issued a restraining order against her older sister. She claimed she feared that he had plans to harm her and/or her children.
In the legal document, he claims that his sister has spent years trying to ride his coat tails. He also accused her of demanding $4 million to help him get a movie idea off the ground.
Although the restraining order was dropped a few months later, it speaks volumes about the type of relationship they had. Kenya has had a difficult few months with her family, she filed for divorce from her wife Rania Barris who she has been married to since 1999. They share four children, Lola, 16, Beau, 14, Kass, 12, and Bronx, 6. Raina filed for divorce from Kenya in 2014 but both decided to try and make it work.
They last longer than most couples who withdraw their divorce. Hopefully, these two issues can be resolved soon so that Kenya can stop being served at red carpet events.
