A liberal arts professor at the University of Minnesota called on people to “dismantle” and “decolonize” America during a pro-Palestinian event.
Earlier this month, University of Minnesota liberal arts professor Melanie Yazzie took the stage with several other speakers as part of an anti-capitalist Native American advocacy group “educating” the Red Nation about the Israel-Hamas war.
During the pro-Palestinian event, Yazzie made some controversial comments, including early on when he said he wanted one takeaway from the event to be that “we are all indigenous people who come from countries that have been colonized by the United States government. “
“And, of course, the US is funding Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land,” Yazzie continued. “They are one and the same, really.”
“So it’s our responsibility as people within the United States to go as hard as we can to destroy this place because that will reverberate around the world,” Yazzie said. “Because the US is the biggest predatory empire that ever existed.”
Yazzie said that he and his friends “want [the] US from everywhere,” including “Palestine” and “Turtle Island” — names used by several Native American tribes to describe North America.

“And that goal is to dismantle the settler project that is the United States for freedom and the future of all life on this planet,” Yazzie said. “It really depends on that.”
Yazzie also seemed to imply he saw “worldwide” change after the October 7 attacks by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas on innocent Israeli civilians and claimed that “Palestine is an alternative path to a homeland.”
“It was a true fight and it was so powerful that it really, in 60 days, changed the whole world,” Yazzie said. “The whole world has changed. I knew then that nothing, and I mean nothing for the colonists or for any good and humble people on Earth, would ever be the same again.”
During the pro-Palestinian event, Yazzie made some controversial comments, according to reports. Reuters
“And we have to lean on that. Based on the fact that the colonists were afraid,” he said with a laugh. “Lean to scare them and make them feel uncomfortable!”
Yazzie, who said he is the co-host of the Red Nation podcast “Red Power Hour,” denounced “liberalism” as “bulls—” and “garbage” that is “founded on imperialism and colonialism.”

“All he knows is the language of violence, and when he doesn’t use the language of violence, he uses sweet words like ‘Minnesota Nice’ to cover it up,” Yazzie said.
“Enough! Enough of investing our time with liberalism!” she cried. “That’s not resistance.
“Rejection is the only thing… the only kind of death that has come upon colonialism, imperialism that has happened historically because indigenous peoples have resisted in various places where this violence has struck.”
Yazzie also delivered a message to their “Palestinian brothers”, where he called the US a “violent settler project” and that he and his friends had the “moral authority” to do so “as the original people” of America.
“In addition to unity and what we might do, have the moral power as the original people of this land, to reject the violent settler project that is the United States,” Yazzie said.
“And to help lead that, be the spearhead here of all the liberation struggles and movements that seek a world of justice, equality and peace, that seek to dismantle the United States,” he continued.

“I hope you’re trying to dismantle the United States,” Yazzie added to applause from the audience.
Yazzie also claimed that “decolonization” is “the only thing that will save us as a species” and “the planet,” and said that people should “just go with it, no questions asked.”
Yazzie, the University of Minnesota, and Red Country did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
