The teenage driver accused of killing a retired police chief who was bicycling along a Las Vegas street should be tried as an adult, prosecutors said Monday as the victim’s wife reportedly called for “outrage in the courtroom.”
Andreas Probst, 64, was deliberately hit by a Hyundai at around 6am on August 14 and a 17-year-old driver was arrested in the shocking hit-and-run incident caught on camera.
The teenager faces a homicide charge filed in the juvenile system, but the Clark County District Attorney said in a news release Monday it wants to charge the suspect as an adult.

The DA’s office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are also looking for a second suspect — also apparently a teenage boy — who was laughing while filming the horrific incident, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
“I am confident that justice will be served in this matter once the investigation is complete and appropriate charges have been filed,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said in a statement.
The driver has not been identified due to his age.

The hit-and-run incident gained national attention over the weekend when clips of it exploded on social media.
As the driver approached the cyclist, he asked his friend “ready?” as the passengers laughed and were recorded.
“Yeah, kick his ass,” he told the driver before plowing into the pensioner.

After the cyclist was hit, the car sped off on Jalan Tenaya Utara.
Probst’s grieving wife, Crystal Probst, told Fox News Digital the killings of her loved ones were the result of a national backlash against police and a lack of adequate punishment for criminals.

“It’s not just about one victim. We as a nation are victims. We are the victims of a senseless crime,” he said in his first public statement since police announced manslaughter charges against the driver.
“We all need to show up and show our anger in the courtroom.”

Following the accidental crash, Probst was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The former cop had moved to Sin City after he retired as police chief in Bell, California in 2009, according to reports.
“He was honestly like sunshine,” Taylor Probst said of her father during the memorial service, according to KLAS. “That just flows in your life.”
“Everyone who ever knew him,” he added. “Love her.”
