Quavo Releases Touching Song & Video About Death Takes Off
Departed, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, died in November 2022 following a fatal gunshot wound. A few months after his death, the rapper’s uncle made sure his nephew’s memory did not fade.

On Wednesday, Quavo shared a touching tribute to the deceased on Instagram. The post features a snippet from the musician’s latest single, “Tanpa Awak.” The sad track comes with a black-and-white video featuring the Migos members smoking in the studio while listening to the song.
The 31-year-old rocked slowly in his chair, looking sad as the heartbreaking song washed over him. The Athens native poetically captures his pain in the intro lyrics that read:
“Tears flowed in my eyes. I just saw an angel fly. Tell me I’ll be fine, oh why. If you hear me say you’re lying, you’re lying, you’re lying.”
The clip ends with the words “Without You” flashing across the screen. Quavo captioned the post: “Love Live Take Infinity” with infinity and a rocket emoji.
Later that day, the Athens native shared the full version of “Without You” on YouTube. The four-minute footage captures the grieving uncle in one continuous shot, smoking and rocking his chair to emotional music.
After the intro, the hip-hop star poured out his heart in a powerful verse that covered the pain in his heart. “My tears are flowing. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried,” the 31-year-old sang. “Days ain’t the same without you. I don’t know if I’m the same without you.”
Despite the heartbreaking melody, the love between the Migos rappers resonates clearly. The Teen Choice Award winner also referenced his 2022 collaboration album with the late performer, “Only Built For Infinity Links.” The project was released under the duo group name, Unc & Phew, in October.
“I wish I had a time machine. So you ride with me,” Quavo sings. “I miss how you smile at me. Unc & Phew to infinity.” After a few sad verses, the video fades from the rapper to lyrics flashing on a piece of paper.
The closing verse captures the 31-year-old singer singing “Taaaaake… Forgive me” over and over as the paper folds into a rocket that explodes, leaving an infinity sign.
Tribute To Quavo & Offset To Take Off After His Tragic Death
About two weeks after Takeoff’s painful shooting, Quavo shared a lengthy message on Instagram, breaking his silence about his devastating loss. The “Workin Me” artist’s message detailed the couple’s close relationship, which the 31-year-old explained went beyond being a sibling.
According to the 31-year-old, the pair don’t like being labeled “uncle and niece/Uncle and Phew” because it’s unfair to their bond. As for what Takeoff meant to him, Quavo described the late rapper as an “angel.”

He remembered how Takeoff was responsible for leading them towards music. “All this time he had a real passion for music,” Quavo wrote. “It was his dream to be a rapper because I didn’t know what I wanted to do. … I knew he was going to be a rapper.”
The touching tribute concluded, “You and I know we will always be with each other for life and like now we will see each other again. I love you with all my heart. I will never leave you, I don’t think God needs my help. “
Quavo isn’t the only one who has used music to remember his late bandmates. Offset, who is the late Takeoff’s cousin, kicked off his return to music after a month-long hiatus with a shout out to the late 28-year-old.
According to The Blast, the “Clout” artist took the stage in December with an image of the takeoff covering the screen behind him.
The 31-year-old shared a clip of the beautiful moment on Instagram and wrote the caption: “Before every show, I love you, bra.” Before the concert, Offset tweeted about being in a “dark place” since his cousin’s death and asked fans to say good things about the deceased.
