Departing memories will live on as Quavo and Offset celebrate his first birthday.
Almost a year ago, Takeoff, also known as Kirsnick Khari Ball, aged 28, tragically died in a shooting in Houston. Before Takeoff’s death, he was a member of the hip-hop group Migos along with Quavo and Offset. The three also have a close relationship outside of the rap group.
On June 18, the “Bad and Boujee” rapper would have turned 29 if he were still alive. Quavo and Offset marked the special occasion with a tearful tribute and birthday celebration.

In honor of their late friend and colleague’s birthday, the two Migos members posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Quavo, for his part, shared an old video showing his late nephew looking at a denim jacket and asking for his opinion.
The 32-year-old rapper emotionally captioned the clip, “Happy Birthday @yrntakeoff can’t wait for more days like this!!! BEST believe we’re going all week Rocket GEEKD you 29 n—- way.”
Offset also commemorated his best friend’s heavenly birthday with a moving tribute, recalling the times he shared with his friend. The 8-slide broadcast began with a picture of Takeoff giving the peace sign while he was on stage and continued to show a close-up of the young star.
Additional photos on the carousel include a photo of Offset lying on a couch with his legs in Takeoff’s lap and another shot of the two musicians in a car. The emotional balance was expressed in the caption, “Happy birthday, rocket man. It’s fun to touch the microphone! Best spirit! The holiest man I know. Your heart is gold.”
Shortly after sharing their respect for their late friend, Quavo and Offset were seen throwing a birthday celebration for him. The two rappers, who previously had beef, were seen rocking a shirt with Takeoff’s face on it, seemingly erasing it for their late lover.

While Offset poured his heart out in a birthday tribute to his late friend, he previously opened up about how he’s dealing with the grief of loss in his first interview since Takeoff’s passing.
Speaking about how hard it was to move on from the loss, the “Slippery” rapper said, “It’s hard for me to talk about shit right now. I never talked about this. Seriously. Talking about taking is hard, man. Talking about all this crap is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. It hurts.”
He continued, “Some things I’ve never told anyone. He is not here. That shit feels fake, bro. I go through my days thinking it’s fake. And I didn’t say anything to anyone about it.”
Alleged Killer Who Was Late To Take Off Has Been Charged With Murder
As Quavo and Offset continue to mourn and honor their late family members, they can take some comfort in the progress made in prosecuting the late “Open It Up” rapper Patrick Xavier Clark’s alleged shooter.
In late May, it was reported that Clark had been indicted on murder charges by a Texas Grand Jury. Remember that in November 2022, Takeoff was tragically shot outside a bowling alley in Houston while hanging out with his colleague and uncle, Quavo.
The two artists played dice with several others. During the game, an argument broke out, and then a fight. The fight eventually escalated into gunfire in which several bullets hit the 28-year-old songwriter.
In addition to the 28-year-old deceased, two other individuals around the lane were reportedly hit during the incident. However, Quavo, who was directly involved in the altercation, was not injured during the shooting.
Clark was initially arrested in December after Houston PD accused him of firing the shot that killed Depart. The Coroner’s report from Takeoff’s autopsy indicated that he was shot twice, in the head and torso. Later, authorities confirmed that the rapper was an unarmed bystander who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Following his arrest, Clark was released from the County jail in January after he posted $1 million bond. The offender has asked the judge to pay $5000 for a private investigator for his defense in the trial. According to Clark, he cannot afford the costs of a lawyer or an investigator.
