Quavo Takes Jab At Offset In New Song Amid Takeoff’s Loss: ‘We Gone’

Is this the end of Migos? Quavo seems to think so!

As the world mourns Takeoff’s tragic death, his uncle continues to honor his passing through music. Months after releasing the emotional song “Without You,” the rapper is back with another tribute.

Unlike the first track, which encompassed Quavo’s heartache, the new track “Greatness” feels like a personal attack on Offset. The surviving members of Migos have reportedly been out since Takeoff’s death, leaving fans worried about the band’s future.

It appears that Takeoff is the glue that holds the famous rap trio together as fans’ dreams of the group returning as a duo were recently dashed. In a recent Instagram update, the Athenian shared a brief clip of the “Greatness” music video.

The sentence the 31-year-old shared seemed to hint at his alleged beef with his cousin Offset as he made good on his promise to take care of Takeoff’s mother. As the lively tempo plays, the Hip-hop star raps:

“I will make sure mama is right. Especially Mama Take’. I can’t fake it, and I won’t sleep with that snake. I prefer to eat with great people. I want peace, but I can’t.”

Quavo stated that he is trying to move forward despite not having the answers to achieve this goal. However, the entertainer noted that backing down would be “dangerous.” Although he didn’t mention his cousin by name, the record producer’s words hinted at his desire to leave Migos sometime back.

In the full music video shared on YouTube, colorful visuals capture the band’s frontman in what appears to be his home, holding what appears to be a Takeoff necklace. Quavo was seen watching Migos’ throwback videos and looking at their photos. The clip then transitions to footage of Quavo playing basketball with friends or attending an event.

Throughout the video, the rapper shows off her expensive jewelry and exotic vehicles. However, the point is not to prove his wealth, as the grieving uncle states that he would give all his material possessions to see Departure “one more time.”

According to the Athens native, fans should stop asking about Migos because the group ended with the death of his nephew. “Come in, sweep the game like a storm with a motherf****** flow, nigga, Take’ do it,” the rapper said, “so don’t ask about the group, he go, we go, young nigga, it can’t back.”

Despite his alleged problems with Offset, the FCF Glacier Boyz part-owner is proud of his former group’s achievements. “Don’t ever forget that Migos is amazing,” the entertainer said, noting that his wealth represents the trio’s success. He also praised the rap group in the song’s outro

“I couldn’t do it without the greatest band in the world,” he sings, holding up a chain with the members’ faces. “I couldn’t have done it without the greatest nephew in the world,” he continued, again noting the significant impact Takeoff had on his career.

Fan Reaction To ‘Greatness’ Vs Quavo’s Tribute In Memoriam

Although “Greatness” was the second tribute to the late rapper, most fans were not impressed with the song, unlike “Without You.” Instead of sympathizing with Takeoff’s death, many were concerned about the lyrics directed at Offset and flooded the comments section with pleas for reconciliation.

“You and Offset need to make up! I think Take wanted that,” one fan pleaded. “Get back with Offset man, do it for Takeoff,” another pleaded with the rapper. More fans are pleading with the pair to settle down, stating they are better off as a group. However, not everyone expresses their wishes politely.

One individual advised Quavo to make peace with his cousin because “Greatness” is “shit,” while another critic noted that the duo’s “solo project” doesn’t compare to “Migos vibes.” For the final slam dunk, a third troll insulted Quavo for looking “happy” even though his nephew’s killer escaped justice.

The response was in stark contrast to the emotional messages fans unleashed after the Athens rapper performed at the 2023 Grammys. The 31-year-old gave a sentimental rendition of “Without You” at the awards ceremony with the Maverick City Music choir.

However, following the emotional performance, news broke that Offset and Quavo were involved in a heated argument over their decision to exclude the “Clout” rapper from the In Memoriam tribute.

Sources claim that minutes before the “Hotel Lobby” rapper took the stage to perform his song “Without You,” he allegedly got into a physical fight with Offset. The argument was so intense that the two had to be separated by onlookers.

Cardi B’s husband, however, denied the speculation with a cryptic tweet that read, “What looks like fighting my brother yal niggas is crazy.”
